This is a CONGRESS THING. The PRESIDENT has already put his cards on the table. The obstructionist Republicans want to play chicken with the economy and the countries credit again, FINE. I and millions more like me have a very good memory when it comes to being screwed by them and come 2014 we will vote them OUT OF OFFICE

Its not like he is on the moon. My goodness did we ever hear of the telephone? I'm sure he is being kept up to date on everything. And, what's the sense of sitting the freezing cold and banging your head off the desk trying to reason with the GOP?

The President isn't on vacation. He is scheduled to take his well earned vacation later this month, AFTER Congress is scheduled to adjourn. Besides, he's already done what he was supposed to - he has presented Congress with a comprehensive plan that would protect the middle class, ask the richest Americans to pay just a little bit more, cut hundreds of billions in unnecessary spending and begin to get our debt under control. The President has no obligation to simply wait around while the Party of No continues to do what it does best - nothing.

Congress will be in recess. The GOP doesn't want to 'negotiate'; their ignoring the desires of somewhere around 80% of the population to raise taxes on the top 2% is a strange form of political suicide.

Bedsides, POTUS is in constant communication with his staff, even on the golf course; the 'football' is in the cart behind his.

    Well ..
does it affect his sucking from DoD for their Vacations and playtime?
do you think that there's any concern after raising the Premiums of TriCare for Military (including Retirees) of 15%+ on 1 Oct .. and the now tripling that we'll see (across the board cost increases .. from everything including Premiums, Co-Pays/Deductibles, Prescriptions, etc -- as well as new denials of services) as of 1 Jan 2013 ..
do you think that he's got any concern that there are STILL SERVICE-CONNECT Military Retirees who are NOT paid even one penny of their EARNED Military Continuation Pay (Retirement)?
Do you think that he cares what the sum is .. how much was placed on Taxpayer Backs .. or how punishing these tax increases will be to middle class (nor how many jobs are lost)?
It is all about the Vacation and the posing for the public face in front of its advertising agents that is all it is concerned about ..
what's another few million in costs .. and the separate DoD Planes for everyone mean to it?
(absolutely nothing .. he's never had a budget nor known what it is like to live within one .. )

Waiting around to hear the latest republican blackmail plan gets very boring and tedious after the 100th time. Golf games aren't vacations- they're played for relaxation and strategy building.

The president is on the job 24/7 no matter where he is. Hawaii is not on another planet. It has all of the technology the POTUS need to communicate including teleconferencing. In the life of the POTUS there is always some type ofdisaster looming. How exactly would Obama taking a working vacation prevent John Boehner from doing his job by herding his cats together to enact the will of a majority of the people.

Now ask why the House is adjourning on December 14th and Boehner has not announced a postponement.

The President leaves on the 17th. The House will already be adjourned.
