i feel it should be illegal because kids shouldn't have to grow through that at a young age and kids shouldn't have to go to school frightened and make excuses to not to go because of bullies. bullies should be thrown in jail and forgotten about. adults needs to know what there kids are heading when they walk out the door i morning afternoon or night. KIDS ARE TOO YOUNG FOR THIS AND ARE VALUABLE AND COULD BE SOMETHING TO THE WORLD AND NOT DEAD OR COMMITTING SUICIDE. :'(

My name is Emma and I am the researcher of a 60- minute documentary for MTV International about bullying called Bullied. The film will explore the universal experiences of young people across the globe who have fallen victim to bullying. The plan is for the documentary to be filmed by the contributors themselves and will highlight their personal stories; this is very much the victim’s story in the victim’s own words.

We are looking for people aged between 14 and 24 to take part from all over the world and I was wondering if you would be able to help spread the word about the documentary or indeed would like to take part. For more details please contact me at Emma.Findlay@firecrackerfilms...

We will of course ensure the welfare of all who appear in the programme as we realise the potentially sensitive nature of the subject. We will obtain parental consent where necessary and will be on hand to offer support throughout the project. If needed a psychologist will be available to help determine whether it is suitable for certain individuals to take part in the project.

    Many thanks

    Emma

It should but then again, bullying will still continue on. It would be like littering, it's ilegal but yet many people still do it.

How do you police another person who bullies? What needs to happen is the person who is being bullied, tell someone in authority so that they don't continue to receive this treatment.

Kids need to learn from a young age what is acceptable behavior. Bullying is wrong.

The problem with the idea of illegalizing bullying is that "bullying" can then be defined to be whatever the "victim" says it is.

When I was a kid, lots of kids got bullied. The way to deal with it was not to make a federal case about it. The way to deal with it was to get the bully back -- to give him a taste of his/her own medicine. (Yes, I included "her" there. Lots of girls can be bullies too.)

its emotional abuse no matter who it is coming from.

Emotional abuse is a form of abuse that subjects or exposes a person to psychological trauma that results in chronic depression or PTSD etc.

bullying leads to a myriad of things, NONE of them are good. people who bully are hateful of themselves, and take it out on those around them. the bullies need to be helped, not always punished right away. once they have been given the chance to change, to stop being abusive to others around them, and they continue. I say throw the book at them. Strictest punishment available. No one should be tortured to the point of suicide simply b/c no one bothered to step in. I'm talking about children AND adults.

It's ruined 9 years of my life. Of course. Just because I was too nice to stand up to someone, they beat me down. Or in the last case, shoved me into the lockers everyday for a whole year. Some grade 9 beat up my brother when he was 9.. and when my brother was bullied by another boy because my brother's a little chubby, my brother accidentally chipped the kid's tooth.

It's a type of assault. There are different degrees, but yes, I think we should have laws against it. Kids and adults deserve to live bully free.

It destroys young people's lives and self-esteem, not to mention the physical and mental damage that is inflicted upon innocent ones. I was bullied when in grammar school-as were my children. I chose to home school them for various reasons, and that being like the SECOND main reason for pulling them out of a very twisted institution that not only allows it to happen, but punishes the innocent victim should they chose to defend themselves. I would totally support a bill making it illegal! institution punishes innocent victim chose defend totally support illegal bullying institution punishes innocent victim chose defend totally support illegal bullying

There are certain types of bullying that are already illegal. Harassment, for one. But if we're talking in-school, I recommend enacting laws that give teachers the tools they need to deal with it.
