Tap water tests as clean and in most cases cleaner than bottled water over and over in testing by environment groups, not to mention we are draining valuable spring water sources when it's not necessary. America must break the bottle water habit and protect the environment for future generations. The best thing you can do as an American to protect our environment is put down the damn bottled water----this is a simple step we all can take.
Considering U.S. consumption rates require 17 million barrels of oil per year just to be spent on plastic water bottle production, the demand for the environmentally risky extraction process due to plastic bottles is very high. The millions of barrels of oil do not include the cost of transporting those bottles, which requires additional energy and carbon emissions, increasing the negative effects of climate change.
The United States alone consumed an estimated 29 billion plastic each year according to Science Line, and that number only counts bottled water. While only a fraction of those bottles end up being recycled, most end up in the landfill or as litter in our waterways. During each step of its lifetime, including extraction and processing of raw materials, manufacturing, product use and final disposal, a plastic bottle poses threats to the environment through intensive
resourceproduct final disposal plastic bottle poses threats environment intensivenbsp resource usage, chemical toxicity and massive amounts of waste.

Bottled is convient and easy to carry around. I recycle a lot of plastic, I also reuse them. We really don't want to be preached at or cussed at!

I don't believe I have seen the movie, but our nations water supply is very vulnerable. There has to be a thousand different scenarios as to how it could be infected. I personally believe that is how the govt slips in it's test drugs, and perhaps even the flu. Those that have done their homework know that fluoride water treatment is responsible for the lower IQ across the board of the people in this country.

If I want a fizzy drink that I want to just quench my thirst quickly there's nothing better (imho). But at other times I prefer to drink ordinary tap water.

The tap water in my building is disgusting and full of harsh metals. I refuse to put it in my body. I use a cooler. I get the bottles filled at a water store that takes the local water, filters it 11 times, and softens it. What comes out is actually smooth and sweet to drink. Tap water in Phoenix gives you kidney stones.

My rig looks something like this. The cooler was $90 at Walmart. I have three 3gal bottles and one 5 gal bottle (the 3 gallon bottles are great for weightlifting). I drink it, make coffee with it, cook with it, and give it to my cat. The only thing I use the tap water for is washing dishes. Find a good water store in your town. You're using local water that is cleaned up and filtered and recycling your bottles. I don't know what kind of black magic they use to make the water have a "sweet" taste but god bless them!

..never!...I've always wondered why these dummies whine about paying $3.00 for a gallon of gasoline but don't mind paying $1.25 for a pint of water at the same gas station...

I live in a place with a well. It smells like sulfur. I have 4 one gallon jugs I take to work and fill with tap water and use it to drink, fill ice cube trays and make coffee.

The water in my building actually causes stainless steel to rust. There's no way that touches my insides.

Go to Walmart and buy a PUR faucet water filter. I will make your faucet water taste and smell delicious.

But I do use it to make coffee. Use a Keurig coffee maker and it recommends not using tap water. Besides, the water here is so hard that the women really enjoy their douches.

I travel a LOT, the only place I will use tap water is at home in the US, or Germany. In most countries like Mexico, China and Thailand I won't even rinse my toothbrush under the tap.
When I am doing yard work in the heat of the summer, I like to drink straight from the garden hose.

It is not good to drink from the garden hose. Most garden hoses say on the label that came with them, Not for potable water, do not drink from hose.
    not potable water hose

If it said this, it's OK to drink from it.

I carry the bottles with me so I have water handy. The water where I lived tasted strange. Then when the water looks green or brown it becomes something you don't want to drink.

I live in the city I have a de-chlorination unit hooked up where my water comes into my house chlorine is not good for you to drink then it goes from there to an R/O system before it's used anywhere in the house so the water I drink is 99.99999 % pure

In 3 years, the tap water in my apartment building is so bad that the vapors from it have caused brand new stainless steel fixtures to rust. Moreover, it actually leaves a green scale on the old pipes. Screw the polar bears, the tap water around here is downright toxic for your body.

There are probably a lot of people who NEED bottled water, either for health reasons or because the local water is unsuitable. For those people I believe that bottled water is a lifesaver.
I also believe that the percentage of people who buy bottled water AND who NEED bottled water is really quite small.

Hubby cannot take an open container into work, (prison guard) so he has to take a new bottle every day then refills it. I just have big bottles that I refill. I like our well water here. I do recycle glass, plastic, tin and cardboard.

I have a well at home and drink (mostly) coffee or (some) soda at work. Bottled water is a scam-especially when they say it is "spring" or "mountain." They only have to put in a small percentage and then the rest comes out of the municipal water supply.
