A Poem for the Children of Sandy Hook Elementary

teigan 2012/12/17 18:35:47
Justice for Blake Litton
Twas' 11 days before Christmas, around 9:38
when 20 beautiful children stormed through heaven's gate.
their smiles were contagious, their laughter filled the air.
they could hardly believe all the beauty they saw there.
they were filled with such joy, they didn't know what to say.
they remembered nothing of what had happened earlier that day.
"where are we?" asked a little girl, as quiet as a mouse.
"this is heaven." declared a small boy. "we're spending Christmas at God's house."
when what to their wondering eyes did appear,
but Jesus, their savior, the children gathered near.
He looked at them and smiled, and they smiled just the same.
then He opened His arms and He called them by name.
and in that moment was joy, that only heaven can bring
those children all flew into the arms of their King
and as they lingered in the warmth of His embrace,
one small girl turned and looked at Jesus' face.
and as if He could read all the questions she had
He gently whispered to her, "I'll take care of mom and dad."
then He looked down on earth, the world far below
He saw all of the hurt, the sorrow, and woe
then He closed His eyes and He outstretched His hand,
"Let My power and presence re-enter this land!"
"may this country be delivered from the hands of fools"
"I'm taking back my nation. I'm taking back my schools!"
then He and the children stood up without a sound.
"come now my children, let me show you around."
excitement filled the space, some skipped and some ran.
all displaying enthusiasm that only a small child can.
and i heard Him proclaim as He walked out of sight,
"in the midst of this darkness, I AM STILL THE LIGHT."

Like I said above it's called constructive criticism if you don't want a poet to give it don't post a poem no need to get uppity about it.

I also have written several poems which have been published. Someone pours their hurt and heart onto a piece of paper and you stand in judgment of it.

Somethimes it is best to say Nothing at all.

It's hard for liberals to keep their COLLECTIVE mouths shut. They always have an non-traditional anti-American OPINION, a pet project, a special interest.

I'm not a liberal I think anyone who is a conservative or a liberal merely wants to restrict our freedom thy merely disagree on what ones to restrict.

No one gives a damn about your "constructive" criticism. Why don't you focus on the lives lost instead of your religious preferences.

Edited in order to comment after you blocked me without allowing a response:

Oh, poor thing. You posted crap and then get angry when you're called on it. So you're a Pagan, not an atheist. Your comments showed the compassion of a pile of manure. I always thought Pagans were warm and loving people. Sure you're not one of those not nice atheists?

He could have kept his thoughts to himself out of respect for these children and their families. I guess respect doesn't come with atheism either. Though there are atheists that do respect other peoples feelings and beliefs, this guy isn't one of them.

I'm not an ahiest but thx for assuming so out of prejudice. My rating ofthe poem had nothing to do with what's it's about and I've actually donated money to help the survivors what have you done?

The only thing they understand are themselves. It's always about their feelings and not the feelings of others.

But there are good ones that don't denigrate those that believe. They just don't believe themselves. John Stossel is a good example.

I knew that Stossel was a Libertarian but I did not know he was an atheist. I have no problem with anyone celebrating or not celebrating whatever holiday they want, it's supposed to be a country that has the freedom to do both. When there is a scene with a manager or whatever symbol that represents their views, I look at it as a good thing, a festive thing a non-criminal thing. It beats the hell at watching doom and gloom on the tube. Maybe more atheists should just sit down and have a cup of eggnog and toast peace.

He told O'Reilly that he's a non-believer. But he thinks it's great that others do believe and wishes he could believe, too. He has the right attitude and we'd all be better off if non-believers would just get over it.

    Exactly.

There is a Jewish economist (can't think of his name at the moment) That basically said the same thing. He loves Christmas because it means a celebration and happiness and he has no problem with it at all. Sometimes you just need to look at the good and let your own prejudices go.

Why on earth would you feel compelled to criticize someone's heartfelt feelings about this tragedy? You could have passed without your criticism. Save your bigotry towards Christians for another day.
