Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos will compete for the heavyweight title on the historic, inaugural UFC on FOX show -- Saturday at 9pm/ET. While all preliminary fights will air on Facebook.com/UFC and FoxSports.com, champion Velasquez vs. challenger dos Santos will be the first UFC fight ever on network television.

While both fighters are humble, soft-spoken, and quiet compared to top drawing hypeman Brock Lesnar, their results inside the Octagon have been very exciting. Both fighters are undefeated in the UFC, climbing quickly through the rankings. At 9-0 and age 29, Velasquez has already written himself in the history books, being the only Mexican heavyweight champion in combat sports history. In his eyes, he is not just a fighter, but a role model.

Dos Santos, much like Velasquez, came from rough beginnings. The Brazilian mixed martial arts standout grew up poor, with nothing coming easy, but through hard work, dedication, and raw talent, a devastating striker was molded to take shape and reek havoc inside the Octagon. This may not be the most important fight in UFC history, but it absolutely is right up there. There is a lot of pressure on both men, not just to win, but to deliver an exciting fight.

Based on their records, the minimal times they have ever been in danger, and the fact that they always go for the finish, this fight could be an absolute classic or at the very least, a violent, hard-hitting spectacle. Make no mistake about it. On paper, this is the greatest heavyweight title fight in UFC history in terms of talent stepping inside the Octagon. On Saturday night, we will see who deserves to be called "The Baddest Man on the Planet."

Beating each others brains out is moronic and stupid. When will we retreat from barbarianism and choose intelectual pursuits instead ?
  • Cathy 2011/11/15 14:50:38
    Yes, I will be watching.
  • WGN 2011/11/15 13:06:30
Sorry, but the barbaric "sport" is not worth my time, and neither is anything on Fox No-news.
    An idiotic network for idiots!

I try to watch as many UFC fights as I can. I'm very happy that the UFC and FOX reached this agreement where you can watch live UFC events for free!

I don't usually watch man on man sports, because they don't interest me, I'm straight and I'm more interested in females or games/sports that require genuine talent and skill. I think people who enjoy watching other people fight have serious issues that need addressing, especially those guys who get too excited by cheering, clenching their fist or jaw, stamping their feet and grunting like animals. For men who get excited watching other men it's all very homoerotic, which is cool and all, but most straight men don't realise that they're secretly turned on, they try to deny their true feelings and still believe they're 100% heterosexual, when evidently they have to at least be bisexual. To experience a build up of testosterone and sexual tension by two grown men hurting, rubbing and sweating all over each other, then to go and take that sexual tension and release it on their girlfriend is the funniest thing of all, I mean how much more in denial can those guys be? I'm honestly surprised when I walk into a pub/bar when a sport is on and the people watching aren't just whipping out their bits to fap or schlick there and then.

surprised walk pubbar sport people watching whip bits fapping schlicking

I wonder how many people will read this, instantly dismiss it, deny the possibility that there is something to what I've said and will then overreact and start trying to act more manly. lol

theres alotta fights I wanna see happen... now that theyre both in the UFC I wanna see mayhem miller and Nick Diaz fight after the Nashville Strikeforce incident but they cant come to an agreement in weight... Sonnen and Silva just because it's obvious the two hate each other and I wanna see Alistair Overeem fight Brock Lesnar.

I don't know who Mayhem Miller is, Sonnen and Silva would be a good rematch. I also don't know who Allstair Overeem is, but if he is a good boxer he should beat Lesnar, who has a glass chin. And has proven to be, not as dominate as everyone thought, when he won the championship. He may have to go back to pro wrestling..
