It was voted on by the residents of Maine and they made their choice. Get over it. If you have a domestic partnership or civil union that gives gays and lesbians the same rights as a married couple, a man and woman, then who should care if the word marriage isn't part of the deal? We're talking rights here. If the word marriage was out of the equation there wouldn't be much of a problem with most people.

Here's what happened in ME, and CA
"Hey everyone! These QUEERS are trying to convert all of our children into queers by getting married! We can't let that happen! If our kids don't think that queerdom is evil, what'll stop them from being queer?"

It's nothing more than pure hate.

Marriage doesn't mean much to me. I think it's a silly thing, but I do understand that means more to other people. America is working on it. Just gotta give it time.

    Suffrage took time, right?

I agree with the poster. It is completely, utterly, fu*king stupid. Rant off. Justice, peace and love will prevail. And when the wedding industry realizes that gay weddings are much more fabulous and more expensive than straight weddings the bakers, florists, photographers and limo owners will vote with their pocket books. I stood in line for my cousin and soon to be cousin in law on a cold February morning in San Francisco with a gallon or three of hot coffee and flowers for the brides while they drove up from LA. Before I knew it the coffee had been dispensed and replaced and I made friends with about a dozen couples. And gained about that many new patients that day. drove la coffee dispensed replaced friends dozen couples gained patients drove la coffee dispensed replaced friends dozen couples gained patients drove la coffee dispensed replaced friends dozen couples gained patients

I do...The constitution is there to protect minorities and it's being ignored.
