Lost boys of Swat flee for their lives as fighting rages

- Twenty well-behaved boys sit on the floor in two rows, quietly eating a humble lunch of flat bread, water and beans.

Their hair is neatly combed and they are dressed in spotless Pakistani shalwar kamiz long shirts and baggy trousers. These boys are orphans, and they are lucky to be alive.

"Sir, it was very dangerous," explained 15-year-old Mohammad Nawaz.

    It's too bad that Pakistan is such a mess. They receive billions in aid and invest in the military because they are in, what's essentially, a cold war with India. If the government wasn't so corrupt perhaps their economy would be better and young people could have jobs rather than joining militant organizations.

    It's a mess of their own making and no matter how many American dollars we pump into the country, it's just a waste.

    It's sad to think that innocent people have to flee to save their lives. certain people deserve death, but not innocent orphans

    The only way this story could be sadder is if the orphans all had a missing leg and had to hop their way to safety.
