Fathima Rifqa Turns to Global Revolution Church: Should Rifqa murderous parents be jailed?

Kira August 21, 2009 18:22:19

Two pastors at Global Revolution Church have put Fathima Rifqa in a foster home after Fathima converted to Christianity despite her Muslim roots.

Fathima Rifqa contacted Blake and Beverly Lorenz at Global Revolution Church in Orland, Florida through Facebook. To them, Rifqa expressed a fear of being murdered by her Muslim parents, whom she believes will murder her for becoming Christian.

Rifqa explains that her Muslim parents would murder her in what is known as honor killing.

Should Fathima Rifqa's parents be jailed for wanting to murder their Christian daughter?

I am happy Fathima Rifqa was taken in by Global Revolution Church... Rifqa's parents should be jailed

Rifqa Bary is an honor student, a cheerleader - a good girl. Like Amina and Sarah Said, she lived two lives: she was a happy productive successful student in school and a tortured, oppressed and brutalized victim at home. Many in her school were shocked to hear that Rifqa, the quintessential good girl, had run away from home; those close to her were not surprised at all.

On several occasions friends of Rifqa would bring her down to the school counselor because of bruises on her legs and her arms, beatings suffered at the hands of her father and brother (sounds like Islam Said). The middle school, in a serious dereliction of duty, did not report these beatings to child welfare services. Beatings were random, violent, unprovoked. Take, for example, when Rifqa and her father Mohammad were driving in the car. He would force her to wear the hijab, which she hated. In her discomfort she would slouch down, embarrassed, and her father would haul off and sock her in the face so that she never forgot to sit up straight in her costume. The beatings were regular and so much a part of the landscape of Rifqa's life, she became inured to them, just like Amina and Sarah and Aqsa and every "honor" victim.

You’re not my daughter.” And I refused to speak but he said, “I will kill you. Tell me the truth.” In these words, bad words, cuss words. So I knew that I had to get away"

Rifqa should never be forced to return to her family.

You cannot put someone in jail before they commit a crime unless there is real evidence that they will do it. Although I do think protection should be provided for Fathima

Of course they should be jailed, why would they even think to do such a thing?

    I think Fathima Rifqa...

Whatever she does is her choice, and her parents should not harm her for taking her decision. But this idea that her parents want to murder her is speculation. Rifqa 'believes' that they will murder her.

If this was a case of child abuse, then there should be a trial. There should be sufficient proof to back up Rifqa's claims and in the meantime, she should be living separate from them, in case her claims should prove true.

Like anyone else accused of a crime, the matter should be thoroughly investigated by the district attorney before any action is taken against the parents, but if he's convinced, then they should be charged, given a fair trial where the prosecutor must prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt, while they are given access to reasonable bail, but if they are found guilty, then yes, they should be jailed, and in a case like this, I think that, until the facts are fully established (the parents claim the girl is emotionally disturbed and lying), she should not be forced to return to her parents' home against her will.

If she had commited a crime than we would treat her like an adult. TRUE OR FALSE?
she has committed no crime treat her as an adult. give her choice.

if she wants to be a christian she should be allowed to be- it is her choice- and her parents should be prosecuted for trying to stop her- this should happen to all parents who stop their children following thier own choice of religion- christian , muslim whatever

    I think Fathima Rifqa...

looks like it's from the fat into the fire for ms. rifqa . . . it was religious nuts that caused her original problems . . . now she's been taken in by another!

what are you talking about dalmation? Christ and his people are trying to rescue her. How can that be bad?

"Christ" doesn't exist. You're salavating that she's left a rival cult for yours, and you apparently do not possess the objectivity to figure out what goodogcarl has pointed out. Getting sucked into a rival cult only constitutes "rescue" for those in the second cult. To those of us who have figured out that all cults are just cults, the view is a little different.

how are you so loud with your head in the sand like that? You and your anti God cult spouting your opinion. Your argument is irrelevent. we live in America, if you want to deny God go right ahead. Those who know God have the right to free speech. If she were to decide to go back and be Muslim again the Christians would still love her and pray for her they would not kill her. Muslims would still kill her for leaving in the first place. And Atheist would put her in a mental hospital and have no hope for her. Which one sounds more logical?

If you were capable of intelligent thought I'd respond to your post. However, since you write things like: "Atheist would put her in a mental hospital and have no hope for her" intelligent conversation with you is obviously impossible. I'll let others compare what you have written to what I have written, and draw their own conclusions. Congratulations on proving that the more religious a person is, the more tenuous is their grip on reality.

Is Jesus the goalie, then? Atheists kill fairy tales and delusions. Satan . . . the guy who wants humans to have knowledge, and kills exactly zero people in the Bible. Yeah, what a scary guy. I'm not a fan of that "obey me or die" Yahweh character.

They have done nothing.......yet. You can't JAIL someone for nothing. I am glad for her that she has found Christ but she is about to find out just how hard it is to carry the cross. I pray she is given the grace, courage and strength she needs in every way.

That would entail them doing something that neither Christianity nor Islam teaches - respect the religious views of others.
