He got an award for ATTEMPTING to bring peace and all those bogus promises he made.
I never got my degree for ATTEMPTING to go to college.
    It makes no sense. :/

it ALWAYS was a (seemingly) biased.. and thus meaningless "award".

    In a world where these things are rigged by lobbying , money and political power.. the whole thing is almost reduced to _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Nobel no more noble- its brokered !!

Please! The man was nominated for the award 12 days after he took office, but the judges "found his *promises* too good to ignore." Oh, boy, is that rich. Yes, if the Nobel Peace Prize is about promises, not actual achievement, as so many of us have been led to believe, I guess Obama does deserve the honor. To paraphrase a statement by Winston Churchill, who was apparently too busy winning World War II to make enough "promises" to win the Nobel Peace Prize, "Never in the annals of Nobel history have so many promises been made to so many without any means or intention of backing them up."

    CAUSTIC KNOWLEDGE

    no

Absolutely Not. The rules specifically imply

"The whole of my remaining realizable estate shall be dealt with in the following way:

The capital shall be invested by my executors in safe securities and shall constitute a fund, the interest on which shall be annually distributed in the form of prizes to those who, during the preceding year, shall have conferred the greatest benefit on mankind. The said interest shall be divided into five equal parts, which shall be apportioned as follows: one part to the person who shall have made the most important discovery or invention within the field of physics; one part to the person who shall have made the most important chemical discovery or improvement; one part to the person who shall have made the most important discovery within the domain of physiology or medicine; one part to the person who shall have produced in the field of literature the most outstanding work of an idealistic tendency; and one part to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity among nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses."

Apparently the Nobel people cannot read! 'Shall Have' is not the same as thought about doing.

Always remember that Alfred Nobel invented nitro-glycerin. The mail ingredient in war munitions. Dupont gets RICH by making/selling these materials,

Our leaders want to continue making/selling, BOTH parties LIKE the lobbyists rewards, it helps them get re-elected.

There were 204 candidates more worthy than Obama. Here is one, Dr. Oscar Elias Biscet Gonzalez, Cuban physician, imprisoned since 2003 for asking human right in Cuba.

Some day President Obama MIGHT be worthy of a Nobel Peace Prize. I don't know what he's going to do in the future after all. He might actually get the US out of the Empire Business, which would be a good thing.

To award him a prize so soon in his administration is almost an insult to the intelligence of all thinking people.

He has done more to improve international relations in the short time he has been in office than Bush did in 8 years! Yes, it is good to talk to America's friends, but we must also talk to hostel nations.

    So.....

You think that holding NATO exercises in Georgia, rebuilding the US nuclear weapons stockpile, adding 40,000 troops to the Afghanistan quagmire, threatening Iran, and interfering with the internal affairs of Honduras are examples of promoting "good international relations"?

Even if Bush was the anti-Christ I think that the above deeds clearly point out the actions of a President who is not interested in peace.

I think, to be fair minded about this, the Committee should have waited another year, just to see if Obama actually did get the US out of Iraq and Afghanistan, quit meddling in the affairs of our poorer neighbors to the south, and maybe did more than talk about nuclear stockpile buildowns.

I don't think I'm being that unreasonable to insist that some deeds accompany a few speeches.....

They made sure that award has no value to it at all now. They knew they were giving it to him in Feb of this year what pray tell had he done from Jan 20 to Feb of this year to deserve it. This sure doesn't pass the smell test.

I actually think he has done the opposite of what he was given the award for. Nothing has changed with other countries as far as peace towards the U.S. He has made us weak in the eyes of the world, and that is what our enemies wanted.
He has caused such division within our country-by party, race, class that I am frightened what people will do if pushed too far.
He, to me, is the great divider. I know Bush divided this country over the war in Iran, but Obama seems to be taking this to a whole new level with everything he says or does,
