While I do not support the illegal settlements or any concessions the Israeli government gives to the radical, sometimes violent ultra Orthodox I fail to see why the settlements should be a roadblock to peace.

Settlements were not an obstacle when Israel gave the Sinai back to Egypt or Gaza to the Palestinians. All the settlements on the non-Israel side of the border were evacuated.

The settlements are only an obstacle because the Palestinians WANT them to be. What was the Palestinian excuse BEFORE there were any Jewish settlements in the West Bank?

What have the Palestinians done to further the peace initiative? Have they even toned down the hate rhetoric? (It's awful hard for your people to want peace when you're constantly gearing them up for war)
