About Me

Hi, I am a Dutch progressive non religious Christian. I am married since 1999.
I am a so called Pothead, I have smoked grass since I was 13 years of age (which makes me a "30 year veteran). Never been addicted to any other form of "hard drugs" like cocaine, heroine or trips. That doesn't mean I haven't tried it, I just didn't like it. I do hardly drink any alcohol, only occasions are certain holidays and festivities.

I have been homeless for about 15 years and "in the scene" about 25. When I was homeless I always made sure I made my money in a somewhat "legal" way (no stealing, robbing, fraud etc) by picking grapes, working as farmhand, working for temp agency's etc. At the end of my time on the street I became the co-founder of the N.O.I.Z. This initiative is a sort of "Homeless Anonymous".
It consists of a night shelter for about 30 people that is run by (former) homeless people. People start out being guests but if they have the desire to change their future they can choose to become a "volunteer" at the foundation. The foundation will provide any support needed to get back into society by providing help with income, debt resolve, rehab, socialization, legal troubles etc. In return the volunteer works day, evening and night shifts at the shelter. In the years this project exists about 80% of those entering the program have found their way back into society and now have normal lives with jobs and family's. I have met my wive at this shelter and we became married about 13 years ago. We have been off the streets "for good" for about 12 years now partially with help from the N.O.I.Z foundation.

I'd like to meet

There are many people I would like to meet and I am very "meetable" myself too. I like to talk to people and make new friends so there are hardly people I do not like to meet. Famous persons I would like to meet... well most are already on their way back like Gandhi, Elvis, Jesus. From the living ones I am not really sure. Obama maybe, Bush too, have lots of questions for them. Bill Gates and Donald Trump I have some questions for too. For the rest I come back to my previous statement because everybody has an interesting story.

Activities

A few years ago my wive ended up in a wheelchair so most of my time goes to taking care of her. I also like to do some volunteering and of course that is mostly with the homeless. Besides that I spend a lot of my free time gaming and behind my pc answering questions on sites like SH ;)

Interests

My interests are broad. I like music, reading and arts. I also like discussing things like religion, politics and human affairs. In politics I am neither left or right although the left in my country has more ideas I agree with then the right. Dutch politics are a bit different then those of the USA. first of where Democrats are the same as Liberals in the USA and are on the left side of the political spectrum, in my country they are two different political directions but both on the right side. left side in my country is called what most (right wing) Americans call libs... Socialists. Progressive I believe is somehow connected to communism in the minds of the (right wing) Americans where in my country it is actually neither left or right. Some progressives tend to lean more to the right, other (like me) tend to lean more to the left.
