and said : This question is far more complicated to answer than who played the better Batman. Ledger was obviously influenced by Nicholson's portrayal in his voice and certain mannerisms, but Ledger creates a much more terrifying and believable character in Dark Knight. Nicholson, wasn't the true original Joker, but he defined the character to the masses, whereas Ledger immortalized the role in his Oscar-worthy performance, sadly being his last role, albeit an unforgettable one. Usually under these circumstances I would go with the original, but Ledger's Joker is too impressive to dismiss, therefore Ledger played the better joker in the Batman movies.

Michael Keaton. Batman (1989) and Batman Returns (1992)
and said : Although Nolan's newly envisioned take on the batman series is by far the most captivating attempt of the franchise, Keaton's original feature length portrayal simply out performs Bale's rendition. Bale might play a better Bruce Wayne, but he has nothing on Keaton's charisma as the caped crusader. His voice change in Batman Begins comes off stale and forced, but becomes more tolerable in Dark Knight, Keaton embodies Batman with more believability. Hands down, Keaton is the victor.
