I just don´t understand how people can be convinced of God´s existence without evidence that anything in the world is actually his doing. And therefore, how in the world are you able to tell someone that your religion is right without proof??? Why would they believe you? Someone please explain.

and said : You cant. Christians tell me, "You have to ask God to give you faith before you can believe in him." Ummm... Something wrong here? Its hard to convince people of ridiculous ideas... especially when there is no proof or slight shred of evidence to back them.

and said : Religions definitely do tear us apart. Religious faith, I would argue, does the same. I would say that faith in the well-being of humanity is a faith that unites us though.

i recently put my other question about gays up their and i turned out to turn for the worst against me. i insulted people and i apologize for that, my comments about the bible were completely true, i wouldn't ever lie about anything in the bible but i do apologize for using some of those facts for insults towards some people and i also do apologize for saying they should be forced to die, that is not up to us, but as far as my beliefs go that gays are wrong and my beliefs on the bible? an i would ask to discuss this other than fight on it this time, fighting isn't doing us all any good , but my beliefs still stand, but the dying and the corruption i do understand that was a bit out of line.

and said : "Hate" is rather a strong word but here are the facts. You have every choice in the world to embrace set of moral beliefs that do not endorse mistreatment or discrimination of homosexuals. The fact that you hate homosexuals is totally your fault. It is not okay to embrace intolerance just because a book written by men totally ignorant to even the most basic concepts of biology, chemistry, morality, astronomy etc. etc. (ie. VERY uneducated men by todays standards) said it is okay. Your religion is NO EXCUSE for irrational behavior, even though most people think it is. Of course your parents probably brought you up this way and it is just as much their fault as it is yours. I challenge you to challenge yourself, challenge these beliefs that you accept without question, I will tell you a secret, they are distroying this planet. Look at the evidence against God and ask yourself, "Is something so obscure, supernatural and probably false anything to devote a miserable life of intolerance to?" The reason that women are still abused in Islamic countries, the reason that abortion clinics are attacked, the reason that stem cell research, even though it is likely to advance medicine exponentially, is not practiced is because of people being afraid to condem irrationality when it is under the flag of a doctrine. THIS IS WRONG! It is YOUR fault that you believe that way, and your religion does not absolve you from ANY responsibility. Read Richard Dawkins, "The God Delusion"

Is there a correlation between murder rates and regional religiosity? I have reviewed some data, and have concluded that it might not be too much of a stretch to say there is. While I can’t say that there is a definitive cause and effect relationship, there seems to be at least some sort of correlation between the data. I have not taken into account population fluctuations, so it’s hard to say. According to an article published by U.S. News in June of 2008, there was a marked decrease in murders in, most notably, Los Angeles and New York City. From 2007 to 2008, Los Angeles reported a 19% decrease in homicides, and New York City reported a whopping 20% decrease. The southern United States reported an average increase of 0.7%, Atlanta and New Orleans leading the way with homicide increases of 17 and 29 percent respectively. Statistically, smaller populations have much denser religious communities, while frequency of religious affiliation per capita tends to decrease as population increases. According to the report, on average, cities with populations of more than 1 million reported a 9.8% decrease in homicides, while populations of 100,000 – 249,999 showed a nearly 11% contrast with 1.9% increase in homicides, and cities with 50,000 – 99,999 inhabitants showed a 3.7% increase in homicides. The western United States shows damning results, with 59% expressing a belief in God, while 39% express a more spiritualistic or atheistic stance. It also has shown no sign of decrease in homicide rates. How could the irish have fought each other for years and years if the labels Protestant and Catholic didnt exist? What about the holocaust and the Jews? The "Christ Killers"? Religion is intrinsically intolerant. To believe that every other member of a mutually incompatible faith which happens to be different from yours is going to Hell... well... THAT is INTOLERANCE. If muslims can label everyone as simply infadels, then the next step encouraged by the Koran, (i. e. to KILL them) is no big deal at all... if you truly believe the word of the Koran. I challenge you guys to pick up the Koran and actually read it before responding. Same with the Bible. Flip through Exodus and Deuteronomy. If there were a strong correlation between Christian conservatism and societal health, we might expect to see some sign of it in red-state America. We dont. Of the twenty-five cities with the lowest rates of violent crime, 62 percent are in 'blue' [Democrat] states, and 38 percent are in 'red' [Republican] states. Of the twenty five most dangerous cities, 76 percent are in red states, and 24 percent are in blue states. In fact, three of the five most dangerous cities in the U.S. are in the pious state of Texas.* The twelve states with the highest rates of burglary are red. Twenty-four of the twenty-nine states with the highest rates of theft are red. Of the twenty two states with the highest rates of murder, seventeen are red." Sam Harris "Letter to a Christian Nation" *I am myself a Texan, and can personally vouch for Harris' claim that it is indeed a pious state. Interestingly, two thirds of the entire nations death penalties are carried out in Texas as well. I believe the evidence and logic does point to a correlation between religion and violence.

and said : Absolutely sick. A very accepted form of devestating Child Abuse. It is still NO SICKER than parents raising any child strictly under ANY DOCTRINE. The Child should be introduced to all faiths and left to choose on his or her own. Raising a child to believe that he or she will go to Hell for private thoughts and actions that are completely natural is just as sick as teaching children to speak in tongues.

My dad once told me that history mean "His story", as in God's story. Or Jesus. I forget which. He also told me, not too long ago, that Santa was evil. Among his few, yet agreeably logical reasons, was that it also spells out "Satan". We were so deep in the conversation that I even agreed. It's so creepy, looking back now. Not long ago, I attended a private Christian school with little more than 30 kids from every grade. I shit you not. They taught in Language that you're supposed to capitalize pronouns if they're referring to a deity. I'm still not sure if this is true. I'm assuming they meant only true deities, and wanted for you to just naturally refer to other gods without TEH CAPS LOCKAGE. Although I'd like some one to confirm this before I go out shouting "Brainwash!". I'll come up with more when I remember.

Absolutely. They are a group of people who have been long unjustly deprived of their rights as citizens of their respective countries.
and said : this might solve a lot of problems. Particularly drug violence, financial crisis, unjust punishments for victimless crimes (ie. a victimless crime is like a debt without a debtor. doesnt exist). It is just another way that religious doctrine seeps into the unsuspecting nervous system of the American political scene. Throw prostitution in there. All regulated of course. All sanitary. The fact that citizens have to undergo the amount of evasiveness under extreme punishments to feel good every once in a while is disgusting. Sure drugs cause problems, but so does money. Many more problems, in fact. Drugs also help millions of people out there deal with problems that an oppressive government helps manifest. Politics could use some backing off, people could use some breathing space.

Either he is all powerful and not all seeing, or all seeing and not all powerful. Or as the supporting evidence suggests, not existent at all.
