22-year-old Omar Khadr is the youngest inmate and only Westerner held at Guantanamo Bay. Omar Khadr was charged in the 2002 death of a U.S. soldier. President Obama's order to close the detention facility at Gitmo, however, has left his case in limbo. Like the other 245 Gitmo detainees, Khadr, 22, could be tried in the U.S. and face a life sentence. Or, as a Canadian citizen, he may be sent back to Canada, where he could avoid trial and be set free. His attorney and everyone who knows Khadr personally claims that he is a good kid and not a threat. But a former US soldier says that freeing Khadr will be injustice.

and said : From what is detailed in the article, it looks to me like he's a terrorist. At 22, he's definitely not a kid, and if he truly killed a U.S. soldier, then he should be held accountable for the crime. Just about every mass murderer out there has been described as "quiet" or "a good kid" by those who thought they knew him, and people rarely suspected their dark side. Not only would freeing Khadr before his tribunal be an injustice, so is closing Gitmo. Obama really screwed this one up, and if the terrorists are freed on a legal technicality or just by virtue of closing the base, then he'll be responsible for many more deaths at the hands of these killers.

She'll be forever known as "the girl who sold her virginity to cheap pornographers." Who in their right minds would go to her for marriage counseling (her chosen course of study) after this? The money will soon be spent and she'll have blown (no pun intended) any chances at a real relationship or a career in counseling.

In the spirit of fairness, and since I posted a PolyTicks cartoon two years ago "bashing" Britney for her paparazzi panty-peek episode (see original comic here: http://polyticks.smackjeeves.com/comics/453512/oops-she-did-i... ), I thought it only right that I should recognize the amazing comeback she's accomplished on the tail-end of 2008 (Click on the poll image to the left to see the full-size "Comeback" cartoon). After a series of events that can only be described as "crazy" -- including the infamous panty-peek (or should I say "no-panty peek"), tongue-kissing Madonna at the MTV Music Awards, shaving her head and attacking a car with an umbrella, and a dismal earlier attempt of a comeback at the 2007 VMAs -- Britney Spears salvaged her career in an amazing comeback, releasing a new CD and a hit single, "Womanizer." In the music video for the new single, Britney writhes naked in a sauna. Well, she's still flashing her audience... only this time, she's doing it "tastefully." And since then, she's released a new single: "If U Seek Amy," which is a trashy play on a not-so-clever euphamism (say it out loud, slowly). Maybe the comeback is destined to be short-lived? Is it just me or does anybody else miss the sweet, innocent Mickey Mouse Club days?

But soon afterward, the people controlling her career led her into a life of virtual prostitution. They molded a sweet, innocent girl into a yound lady who brags that she's "not that innocent" anymore. If they hadn't made her up to look and act like a sl**, then she would have had a great future. No wonder she had her breakdowns! Even now as she makes her "comeback," she is is a slave to the industry and is selling herself in a very trashy way. It's a tragedy and I hope she can someday regain once and for all what was lost to her.

and said : FYI, there is a school of thought that, since the auction extends beyond her base where it's legal, this is prostitution in areas in which it is illegal... and therefore subject to possible prosecution. Either way, I think prostitution is a huge mistake for many reasons.

Congratulations Arizona, if you were watching the Super Bowl XLIII yesterday, you've probably watched porno. About 10 seconds of pornographic material interrupted the Arizona Cardinals' loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers for some Comcast cable customers watching Tucson's KVOA-TV telecast of the game. Those who were watching the game in HD, were not affected.

The fact that it was done during a time when millions of families with small children would be watching makes it all that more vile. The FCC needs to investigate this and prosecute those responsible to the fullest extent of the law, including jail time. And measures need to be taken to ensure that it doesn't happen again. A woman who is openly proud to be a lesbian was brutally raped in San Francisco, CA. She was gang raped for 45 minutes on December 13 by four men. She got attacked when she got out of her car that had a rainbow bumper sticker. Once attacked, they bundled her into her car and took her to an abandoned building where the sexual attack continued until the men finally left her naked, and badly injured. Through out the entire attack, the men barraged her with homophobic epithets. All that is known about these men is that the attack was random, and that one went by the nickname “Blue” and another by the nickname “Pato”. Authorities seek a $10,000 reward

Skimpy swimwear may be banned at local beaches by officials in Pinellas County, Florida. It is currently legal to wear very revealing bathingsuits such as thongs and G-strings on the beaches in Florida. However, skimpy swimwear has been the cause of many arguments between modest persons like parents, and flashy persons who like to show off their goods. If the Florida officials are successful in their venture, the new regulations would ban exposure of the butt "where the cheeks slope inward" and would result in a $500 fine. However, many are afraid that this will affect tourism and regular beach goers who like to wear sexy swimwear. What do you think?

and said : This is a tough one for me. They're all pretty outrageous, but my top choices were Obama's ties and the corrupt elections & appointments, simply due to the sheer extent of them. There were multiple terrorist ties and multiple examples of election scandals. Finally, I chose "elections", factoring that Obama tied into that category as well.

I am a Reagan conservative. I believe President George Bush has been a good president. I supported the McCain/Palin ticket. I believe that electing Obama (based on his ideology and the issues) was a profound mistake by the American people. Nevertheless, I celebrate the fact that a black man...or a woman...or anyone...can rise to the highest office in this great country. America is the greatest nation the world has ever known. Anyone can make it here regardless of their race, sex or national origin. I celebrate that fact.

In Japan, along with many other places, interactive games like Maple Story are very popular. So popular that people become enthralled in the game and obsessive about their status, points, rank, or what have you. One woman became so obsessed with the virtual game, she decided to kill her virtual husband. Yes... virtual husband. In the virtual game, Maple Story, this woman had a virtual marriage with another player that ended in tragedy... a divorce. So hurt by the virtual divorce, the crazed woman hacked the login and password of her former virtual husband, whom she worked with, and killed his virtual character! After this incident, the woman was arrested on counts of suspicion of illegally accessing a computer and manipulating data. She hacked his login and killed the poor guy, over a fake divorce! Offended and angry, the co-worker and now dead virtual husband complained to officials and had the woman arrested. Who's crazier? The woman for hacking a login and killing her virtual husband? Or the guy for having the woman arrested?

She said he faults himself for not going with her when she left her seat to use the restroom before halftime. “I don’t know what happened,” Lois Feldman said. “But I don’t deny that it did happen because obviously there are police reports.” Police ticketed Feldman, 38, and Ross Walsh, 26, of Linden for indecent conduct Saturday night. A security guard who said he saw the two having sex through a gap in a men’s restroom stall flagged down campus police, according to the police report. Fellow Business Executives: As the CEO of a business that employees 140 people, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barack Obama is our next President, and that our taxes and government fees will increase in a BIG way. To compensate for these increases, I figure that the Clients will have to see an increase in our fees to them of about 8% but since we cannot increase our fees right now due to the dismal state of our economy, we will have to lay off six of our employees instead. This has really been troubling to me, as we believe we are family here and I didn’t know how to choose who will have to go first. So, this is what I did. I strolled thru our parking lot and found 8 Obama bumper stickers on our employees’ cars and have decided these folks will be the first to be laid off. I can’t think of a more fair way to approach this problem. These folks wanted change; I gave it to them. LAWSUITS?? The employment-at-will doctrine: In the United States, employees without a written employment contract generally can be fired for good cause, bad cause, or no cause at all LAWSUITS: Can my boss fire me without a good reason? In most cases, yes. Employers and employees work under a centuries-old system called "employment-at-will." Gosh, I haven't even had a conversation with this 54 year old so called man. What did I do or say to deserve this? I don't call people names or get personal. and said : The GOP could have taken this election if they'd had a true conservative running, rather than Democrat Lite. Palin might make a good running mate for the 2012 nominee... I wouldn't mind seeing a Romney/Palin ticket.
