That is very old school Catholic. I think your priest/church would have told you upfront if strapless was a problem. I know some churches or religions don't allow certain kinds of wedding attire (strapless, low back, etc) but they tell the bride of any restrictions before the wedding to avoid any problems. Don't feel bad sweetie, you look beautiful! Your co-worker was probably jealous that she couldn't wear such a pretty dress for her wedding.
