Why should we give a crap, let grown consenting adults make their own decisions. What is marriage between a man and a woman based on but religion, which decides what is better for the proliferation of it's own faith, and has no place in our political arena. No government should be bestoying special favors or penalties on anyone, married, single, gay. Suppose one day the government wants to discourage birth, would it then give special tax favors to singles and gays and penalize married people? It's none of the governments freakin business, as long as someone is a legal, productive, tax paying member of society they all deserve the same rights and priviledges as their neighbor across the street. Allowing discrimination of any kind against any part of our society is allowing the potential for the same treatment against ourselves at some time when it's convenient for those in power to do so. Whether we personally agree with homosexuality is our right and usually determined by the environment we grew up in, and we have the right to believe as we choose, as they do also, but in a government by the people for the people, none of us has any right to demand the government enforce our values over anothers.
