Well better he should have died that way with his addictions than the way my ex-husband did. My, ex, died at 49 years of age, a closet drinker that came out with his alcoholism. It was the ugliest, cruelest kind of slow suicides I could ever have imagined. After he began to drink openly, he chased away his sons, lost his legs to gangrine(?), developed liver sclerosis, lost his teeth, his hair over a period of 4 years. When our kids came to identify him, they didn't even recognize him. He went to work every day, though. It was all he had left. One thing good that came out of it, his sons hate alcohol.
