I'll state at the beginning that neither canidate fits my views but I still plan on voting. I may just be another naive college student but I expect to make a fair amount of money when I start my career and it doesn't feel good to know that I'm actually paying for more "opportunities" for disadvantaged people. I attended a highschool with a 50% dropout rate and I can attest to the fact that kids WILL NOT try harder if we keep handing more to the lower classes. My parents didn't grow up with money or a whole mess of opportunities but they still made it to college and made sure I did too. Handing people things isn't a motivational tool, it creates dependency. And I don't believe America was founded on a few enterprising and motivated people carrying the weight of the masses. I guess communism doesn't sound too appealing to me but I actually worked for what I've gotten in life so I may be a little biased... But then again, I'm Catholic and so I do feel a little sympathy for the historical underdog. Obama definitely has a good number of good qualities. However Kerry (pretending to be Catholic) left me with a slightly bitter disposition towards democrats... I'll probably pick McCain.
