The object would be for the public option to wipe out the insurance companies and become a single payer system. The post office has legislative advantages. UPS by law must charge a higher price than the post office and they can’t use mail boxes Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac had legislative advantages Congress can provide any advantages they want for the government option. Naturally, if the government option had to play by the same rules as private insurance companies, the government option wouldn’t have a prayer. Bottom line Obamacare is about communizing the health care system.
