I don't know the specifics of the situation,but that is why all people should be able to carry concealed weapons.If that happened to anyone else other than a off duty cop with a firearm,they quite probably would've been put in the hospital with more severe injuries and possibly killed. When violent assholes don't know who is carrying and who isn't,they'll think twice before doing something stupid. The fear of death works for most and for the ones that it doesn't,good riddance.
