Favorite Heroes

I need to include Heroines and my favorite is the common housewife, who performs uncommon duties daily, for years on end with nowhere near the recognition they deserve. There are exception people in all walks of life who have put themselves in jeopardy to defend or protect others, sometimes total strangers and often on the spur of the moment. My hat is off and my heart goes out to them. And, lastly, are the soldiers who make the ultimate sacrifice in the service of their country. My head is bowed in respect to my brother-in-law, John Patrick Walsh who rushed a Japanese machine gun nest on Bougainville and received mortal wounds (WWII - 1943). I was 12 and I watched my sister literally give up a meaningful life because of this loss. When heroes die, we all die a little. Some of us, like my sister, die a lot.

Hope you had a fun Halloween, it is not really celebrated in Australia, except by the expats and you do get some young children that go trick or treating. There were quite a few American expats here in Hong Kong who had parties ( any excuse for a party), I did go to one and it was fun. I read a book several years ago about Weary Dunlop, he was Australian and a surgeon and in make shift tents he would do the best he could with the wounded. Interesting how you have read books on the Koran, if you have a particular one that you recomment I would be interested in reading it. To start with nothing to intense, we are a strange bunch, the human race.

I mentioned before that you were and still are of course, a very good looking man. Do you have 4 daughters. I am the only one from my parents marriage but I have a much older step brother and sister from my mother who married an American. He was from Maine but living in New York, when the 2 children were about 5 and 3 y.o. things were not working out so my mother returned to Australia. Oh, I have to send an email and with the time difference I have to do it now, will continue with this later, bye for now :)

Thank you for your message and photo, my goodness you are and were a very attractive man, I thought one of the black and white photos was of a movie star, reallly!
