You torture them and laugh and point etc. mutilate them to death, you become them. I'd rather let them know in no uncertain terms just how utterly despised they are and that it's their own fault for being punished, and then have them locked up for good with no visitors and definitely no getting back together with whoever they abuse or finding a new partner. Or ship them off somewhere to live on their own without anyone else around to abuse.
