About Me
I'm married, with two kids (a son and a daughter), and three dogs until recently. We had to have one put to sleep, so we're down to two. We still have enough dog hair shed in the house to make another, so I guess we'll stick with two, at least for now. One is a GORGEOUS golden retriever--the coolest dog ever--with a cowlick down his forehead and nose--thus, "Mohawk". He's really sweet, and everybody at the vet is in love with him--even the girl with the body piercings and the punked-out hair! lol I think she likes his "do"! Derby is a Yorkie, so named because Derby (the town) is in or near Yorkshire, where Yorkies were first bred. I thought the name was cute for a male, so it stuck. He belongs to my daughter, who got him for her 12th birthday. She has epilepsy, and the idea was to get a dog that would bark his head off if she had a seizure in the middle of the night, and no one knew. Derby, however, barks his head off all the time! lol Keltie was my son's dog. He saved up his money when he was in second grade and paid all the fees (spaying and vet exam, included) and we adopted her from the pound. She was our first dog. He went through a ten year custody battle with me, and Keltie was his buddy and his comfort through it all. He was very sad to lose her recently. All of their pictures are below.
Jesus! The 12 apostles. The grandparents I never met--and other ancestors... Sarah Palin... hmmmm...I'll have to think some more on this one...
Working on a two-year degree in Religion--although I have had to take a break recently, for financial reasons. I volunteer-teach girls' P.E. at my daughter's tiny Christian classical school on Fridays (the only day they let them out of class long enough). It's fun, when they cooperate. But they are getting too comfortable with me, and so THEY want to choose what we do, and it isn't always all that physical! (such as wanting to play heads up, seven up). They cooperate the most when I bring the jump ropes my daughter has from being on a jump rope team at her last school. I want to write, but it seems I never have the time. (I waste too much time on SodaHead, for one thing!)
God, the Bible, my kids, writing, sports cars, and ice skating! I used to ice-dance. But I have torn cartilage in my left knee, and need surgery (which I don't want to do, having been through numerous surgeries already). I can still skate, though--at least so far. I just can't do everything I once could--and what I can still do, I can't do as well. But I've been going lately with my daughter, and I'm getting some strength back. It's still fun, anyway!

What's TV? :)
Star Wars--the first trilogy that was released, back in the seventies and early eighties. The Indiana Jones movies, and almost anything Harrison Ford is in. I love science fantasy, and adventure with some comic relief. George Lucas and Steven Spielberg are "all that and a bag of chips"!! lol
The Bible
The Chronicles of Narnia, and pretty much anything else C.S. Lewis wrote.
Jane Eyre, Anne of Green Gables, and similar classics.
Most of what I read is Christian non-fiction, and most people wouldn't recognize the titles (Theology texts, Beth Moore books, etc. I love Beth Moore's books and Bible studies!)

This is what the LORD says:
"Cursed is the one who trusts in **MAN,** (caps and emphasis added)
who depends on flesh for his strength
and whose heart turns away from the LORD.
He will be like a bush in the wastelands;
he will not see prosperity when it comes.
He will dwell in the parched places of the desert,
in a salt land where no one lives.
But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD,
whose confidence is in him.
He will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
Its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit."
Jeremiah 17:5:8

And while we're at it, let's have term limits, and use their ammo against them, and have a "cap 'n' trade" on their incomes: the only way ANY ONE of them gets a RAISE is if someone ELSE in their ranks takes a CUT in pay! That way, they will keep EACH OTHER in line.
Also, anybody who runs for president should have to have served in the military. How can you expect a man (although in Obama's case, I use the term loosely) to be "Commander in Chief" if he knows nothing about who and what he is commanding? That will help keep traitors out of office, which we sure didn't do this time! (more) -

+7 raves Yes, more than once, actually. Although I would say at least one event that happened to me was n... Yes, more than once, actually. Although I would say at least one event that happened to me was not an angel, but Jesus, Himself! The following is a portion copied from a message I sent someone on Sodahead. This is that event...
One morning I woke up really early (dawn), and heard just as clear as a bell, a voice sort of in my head (?) --not sure how else to describe it--saying, "Come see what I did for you." I don't even know how I knew where to "come see"! But I walked over to the front window (big dining room window), and pulled back the curtain. The whole horizon, from one end of the street to the other, and on up into the sky was an intense, glowing pink (my favorite color!), and since this was in late winter/very early spring, there were no leaves yet on the trees behind the houses across the street. So the branches, which were silhouetted against that gorgeous pink SKY, looked like dark filigree. It was absolutely beautiful and I have NEVER seen another sunrise (or sunset) that huge and intense, before or since! I stood there in that window crying like a baby and I NEVER cry.
On another, earlier occasion, I had just pulled into our carport in our minivan. It was nighttime and I was alone, with just my daughter, who was a toddler at the time. I sat in the van a few extra minutes, picking up fast food trash, etc., cleaning up. Suddenly I "heard" a voice that was (like the other time) seemingly only in my head, so that my daughter didn't appear to have heard it. It said, with an urgent tone, "Get out of here! NOW!!!" I was scared to death, and fumbled with the keys and took off as fast as I could. I drove around until my husband got home from work. Then I finally returned home--still nervous. I told him what had happened, but he had seen nothing. A few days later, at work at his day job, he heard about a woman who lived down the street from us, on another cul-de-sac, like we lived on then. While going from her car to her house, she had been very nearly molested by a man hanging around her cul-de-sac. (EDIT: She managed to get inside the house before he got her.) My husband didn't tell me about her until years later, at which point I got chills. I am convinced that man was hanging around OUR cul-de-sac or our yard, when I pulled into the carport that night! EDIT: Unlike this woman, who was older than me and didn't have children along, I would NOT have been able to get in the house quickly with my toddler daughter, diaper bag, etc.! Had I not been warned, I would have been caught unlocking the door and trying to get in, even if I dropped everything except my daughter!
One more:
My father died of multiple myeloma, a kind of rare type of bone/blood cancer in 1984. I wasn't sure if he was a born-again Christian, and worried for years that he might not be in heaven. During a time that I was going through a lot at home, not the least of which was dealing with my own thyroid cancer diagnosis, I set up an area on our back porch to work on Bible studies and to be my "prayer porch." I was sitting out there alone one evening, and started thinking about my father. I also thought about Gideon and how he had asked for a sign that God had chosen him for a certain job. I knew a lot of people concentrated on the scripture that says it is "an evil and adulterous generation that seeks a sign." But, in thinking about Gideon, and God's response to his request, not to mention all the signs that are supposed to come in the end times (which have already begun!), I realized that it is not wanting a sign that is evil, it is wanting a sign that God exists! That, I already knew. So I felt quite comfortable, then, asking for a sign that my father was safe in heaven with God. The sign I asked for was that two oil torches I had burning on my prayer porch at that very moment both go out at once. My eyes flicked back and forth from one to the other, watching, knowing I couldn't see them both go out in the exact same second. Close enough, though. After several seconds, one went out before my eyes! My eyes flicked to the other. It was also out!!! I WILL see my father in heaven!!!!
I've got more stories--one about my own cancer diagnosis and treatment, but that's a long one, and this is already long! (more)
