You are miss informed. You have described extremists.
The bible says that you are to kill those of other religions, those that blaspheme, those that sleep with another man or an animal, those that strike their parents and those that go near a tabernacle (but i don't think christians use them any more (?)) but you don't see all christians as evil yet some christian extremist groups around the world do practice this stuff.

So the answer is no it is a religion just like christianity. (more)
