Metal can be darker, heavier and faster, while screamo can just be lighter sounding bands with a vocalist who screams. Just because there is screaming doesnt mean that the band is much heavier. For instance, Alexisonfire or The Used vs. Trivium or Machine Head. Trivium and Machine Head are a lot heavier than either band, and they have the same scream/sing technique in their music. (more)
