About Me

Ugh, I never know what to write here!! I figure all the other stuff explains me well enough...let's see; I have BA's in Theatre Arts and Psychology...I work as a Fraud Analyst; all over I'm really kind of a fun gal, a little sarcastic, a little crazy. A bit of a smart ass. I'm addicted to coffee....erm, I love pizza but I'm allergic to tomatoes. I love to travel A LOT!.

This is a warning to all Sodaheads: When I am responding to a poll late at night, I've noticed my sarcasm/snarky levels go way up. I apologize in advance for the things I say, but please realize I am smiling as I type and I mean no offense. I just can't resist!

Oooo! If I could pick anyone...Marilyn Monroe and Frank Sinatra, Johnny Depp, Scarlett Johansson, Nicole Kidman, Billy Corgan...I'd pounce Billy and take the resulting restraining order, it'd be so worth it

Theatre, karaoke, going out, etc.

Theatre, music, singing, costume, wine, whiskey, travelling in a major way, computer games, books, blah, blah, blah...

I'll listen to nearly everything, the style changes with my mood. I am totally in love with the Smashing Pumpkins though...they seem to cover them all somehow.

I love Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and That 70's Show. Can't deny The Simpsons, Family Guy, Futurama. I kinda like Mythbusters and History's Mysteries...I miss Dexter's Laboratory and I can't seem to be able to download it anywhere...

Yeah, I've decided I'm nearly done trying to list off a zillion specific movies...So, I like the LotR movies and the Harry Potter movies; I love James Bond (corny gadgets and explosions are great, but I still whine when the cars get wrecked), Bram Stoker's Dracula, Howl's Moving Castle, Big Fish, Schindler's List, Everything is Illuminated, Moulin Rouge, Memoirs of a Geisha, He Loves Me He Loves Me Not (French movie, that's the English version), RENT, Casablanca, Finding Neverland; I like a lot of movies

I'll read almost anything; on my shelf I have a lot of plays, Harry Potter, LotR, lots of vampire stuff, some Bukowski, mythologies, Dan Brown, my DSM-IV, David Hewson, Dracula, Frankenstein, a few classics...etc. I read too much. Lately I've been getting into the Discworld series...

"Everyone deserves the chance to fly!!" -Wicked

"I'm fairly certain you're breaking some sort of stupidity limit." - Ctrl+alt+del online

"What we do today echoes in eternity." -Maximus, Gladiator

"Love isn't a decision. It's a feeling. If we could decide who we loved, it would be much simpler, but much less magical." - i don't remember who said this

"Cast your eyes on the ocean, cast your soul to the sea; when the dark night seems endless, please remember me..." - Loreena McKinnett "Dante's Prayer"

"I know that you believe that you understood what you think I said, but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant." - Robert McCloskey

"There's a really a cold, cold side to my personality that I'm not really comfortable with. I'm constantly dealing with that side of my personality versus my overly sentimental side… There's just a side that's a real motherfucker side; it's nothing I want to admit or even look at. It's where a lot of my strength lies. It's been the part of me that's been able to steel my spine against situations that probably would have broken a lot of people, or caused them to jump off the loop." - Billy Corgan

"I don't know if God would agree with me, but believing in God is kind of unimportant when compared to believing in yourself. Because if you go with the idea that God gave you a mind and an ability to judge things, then he would want you to believe in yourself and not worry about believing in him. By believing in yourself you will come to the conclusion that will point to something." - Billy Corgan

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It's not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others." - Nelson Mandela

I don't have any; I have many people I admire but hero-worship is different from admiration and love for someone

If the Catholic Church didn't make itself such an easy target by sheltering pedophile priests, not to mention just the plain out hypocrisy of the religion, maybe Dowd wouldn't have anything to write about. It's nice to see that after the Woman's Sufferage and the Civil Rights struggles that people still think that they can and should deny the rights of others because they win a vote by a slim margin. What a proud day for society!!!

I hope all those who voted to repeal are ashamed of themselves.

    http://jamesfallows.theatlant...

The term is used as a way to say "Look on the bright side of life" and is meant mainly as positive.

Besides, Bush Sr. had a slang term named after him as well after he puked on the prime minister. Bushu-suru -- to "do a Bush"

positive bush sr slang term puked prime minister bushu-suru bush

  • +17 raves Anyone who doesn't believe that FOX news isn't slanted beyond all reason is incredibly delusional... Anyone who doesn't believe that FOX news isn't slanted beyond all reason is incredibly delusional or just a little too happy with the hate they hear. I don't care what their ratings are...all it shows me is that people love yellow journalism and sensationalism; they're little better than the tabloids you see at the supermarket and only half as truthful. After all, Rupert Murdoch sued, and won, the right under the First Amendment for his "journalists" to lie on air...why in the world should I trust them? How can one claim to be fair and balanced and then sue for the right to make stuff up?

So, yes, Fox isn't a news organization because it has perspective; that perspective is that they exist solely to sell people lies as long as the hype gets them ratings (having great TV shows apparently wasn't enough). It's a great formula that many are copying now, and that's really sad.

The thing is...as repulsive and horrible as these boys behaved there is a reason we have juvenile court. A fully developed brain knows right from wrong, and understands the consequences of their actions depending on the environment. And a brain doesn't fully develop until 20-25. That's why every individual is a complete moron at least during their teen years.

Kids can know right from wrong. That doesn't mean they completely understand the consequences. And mob behaviour is a powerful thing, even in adults; the attackers' families admitted these boys were hanging out with the wrong sorts. Feeling vengeful I don't think is any excuse to not do the right thing in regards to the law. Should we go soft on these boys? Hell no. But trying them as something they are not isn't the answer either. A judge in his/her right mind can find a suitible, just, and deserving (read: harsh) punishment without having to try them as adults. Unless the intention behind this is to get "attempted murder" or assault on their permanent records, I see no reason to do this. It's not like any judge in their right mind is going to lock 15 year old first-time offenders with hardened adult criminals anyway despite the severity of the crime.

The idea is about personal freedom...which is great except usually it means people have the freedom to do whatever they want except for "things we don't like." It would work if our society wasn't the melting pot that it is, or if we could generally rely on people to do the 'right' thing. There's too much intolerance and blame shifting in our society to really have that form of government. Libertarians want "self-government" but many people can't do that as it is without making it the way of the land. It's a glamorous ideal, but it'd never work. Not in this country. (more)

Our first amendment guarantees freedom of or from religion. Our founders saw how religion in the government tore up Europe and did not want that to happen here. They did not want one form of religion favored over any others in our government, our schools, our nation. Not to mention most of our founders were not Christian, or not devoted to religion. Many were Freemasons, and free thinkers, dedicated to the progress of our society and country for the better of all. Just because a large portion of this country is Christian does not mean we are a 'Christian' nation.
