    They praise the soldier for “preserving freedom and democracy” around the world, but words are cheap, too.
    When they have to allocate funds for veterans, whether it be in equipment or health care, they are pretty stingy.
    They have no quarrel with starting wars and then making sure that the defense contractors can continue profiteering, in which their political advocates get a cut.     (more)

    +19 raves Let's see...I believe in August, that I observed a certain FOX Network "star" directing his viewe... Let's see...I believe in August, that I observed a certain FOX Network "star" directing his viewers to disrupt the census by not answering the census questions, until the census workers answered specified questions. And, I believe I kind of remember a negative focus on the census taking (because it was linked to Acorn?). Could it be that a "deranged" viewer had some twisted thought that he was being a good American to do this to a census worker? But, always, there are questions to be asked...aren't there Glenn Beck?

    Sad. Unfortunately, given the level of hysteria and paranoia stirred up by the right-wing, this is not unexpected.

    Here's what Representative Michele Bachmann had to say about why she would refuse to complete her own census form:

    "If we look at American history, between 1942 and 1947, the data that was collected by the census bureau was handed over to the FBI and other organizations, at the request of President Roosevelt, and that’s how the Japanese were rounded up and put into the internment camps. I’m not saying that’s what the Administration is planning to do. But I am saying that private, personal information that was given to the census bureau in the 1940s was used against Americans to round them up."

    If that's not stoking up the paranoia, I don't know what is.     (more)

Well... the race for the 2nd US Senate seat for the state of Minnesota is finally over... with Al Franken (DEMOCRAT) being declared the winner. This comes nearly 8 months since the election on November 4, 2008 and gives the Dems 60 votes. Are you glad? (more)
