There are painters who transform the sun to a yellow spot, but there are others who with the help of their art and their intelligence, transform a yellow spot into the sun.
- Pablo Picasso

"Either God wants to abolish evil, and cannot; Or he can, but does not want to; Or he cannot and does not want to. If he wants to, but cannot, he is impotent. If he can, but does not want to, he is wicked. But, if God both can and wants to abolish evil, then how come evil is in the world?" - Epicurus

My Dad, Captain Kirk, Spock, Superman, Batman.

  • Absolutely! Would you do me the honor of adding me to yours?
That's a neat story for your brother-in-law to tell his kids and grand kids. Just a few degrees
    of separation!

  • I might have missed that one, but: I read all the James Blish stories based on the original screenplays, plus "Spock, Messiah", whici I re-read several times as I became more mature. blish stories based screenplays spock messiah whici re-read times mature I will look for "The Price of the Phoenix", though: I'm always interested in a re-read of something I read when I was younger !

As to the Kennedy Clan: You're right: They had far more than their share of misfortune. You and I are only a year apart in age: I vividly recall when we were sent home early from school when President Kennedy was assassinated. I'm sure you have memories of that awful day. I was a Marine Corps brat, and we were staitioned at Quantico at the time. My Dad was a Captain in the Corps and instructed foreign military students at Quantico. Several of them attempted to turn themselves in to him, as they expected to be arrested (as would apparently happen to foreign military in their home countries). Dad told them to just go to their barracks and not worry: normalcy would soon return. Guess those guys got a lesson about how our Constitution works! Regardless, the base WAS locked down and we kids (who really were too young to understand what was happening) were not allowed out of quarters for 24 hours. No one at the time really knew who was responsible for the President's murder, so in retrospect all that was understandable, but WOW! What a scary time that was. Nine months later, Dad was ordered to Vietnam. We went to live in New York City with my Mom's parents while he was overseas. THAT is a whole 'nother story (the best time of my young life!), but what's REALLY cool is this: Mom was walking with some friends down Fifth Avenue when Jackie Kennedy walked by. They all froze, looked at each other, then turned around: She was standing there about twenty five feet behind them. smiling at them all! My Mom has ALWAYS cherished that moment.

  • How can I ever be angry with a fellow Star Trek fan? Joanne Linville was a lovely woman, and played the sexiest Romulan ever!

  • I hope you don't mind, but I have put you down as one of my favourite quotes on my profile. If you'd prefer, I can remove it, but it's definitely one worth remembering. :o)

  • I'm just trying to make an effort to get friendly with people of the opposite political persuasion. It's too bad if Spunkysmom was not pleasant to you. Perhaps these things get out of control sometimes, when our hypos get the best of us. So I stopped by and read your profile and looked through your pictures., If that's you and your children, those are sweet pictures. God bless and hope you have a nice weekend.

  • Well, how can you possible beat a pro wrestler? His poor excuse for a mind will assure that he will never lose to anyone, no matter what actually occurs in the real world *grin*
