All of this post election campaigning just proves his inability to lead our nation, not to mention exposes his narcissistic personality by feeding his need for approval. It is truly a tragedy that the American public allowed themselves to buy into the lies he sold. We were promised transparency in government and yet he was able to push his economic stimulus bill without any one even being afforded the time to read it in it's entirety to be able to make an informed decision. As far as I can tell the only thing that has changed in Washington is the names on the offices. (more)

Bush was a good and honorable man who did what he thought was right and never wavered from the course he chose. I found it refreshing to have a man in office who said exactly what he meant and meant what he said. For all of his talk of transparency throughout his campaign President Obama is probably one of the most secretive people since Nixon. I just keep getting the feeling that there is always some shady dealings going on with this guy. (more)

  • +7 raves Here is a real plan, Dear President Obama, I am writ... Here is a real plan,

    Dear President Obama,

I am writing to you as a concerned citizen to express my displeasure with the proposed 700 billion dollar bail out of financial institutions, and to offer an alternate plan that is more likely to benefit the nation’s economy. My plan is a commonsense approach to stimulating economic growth by placing the power in the citizens’ hands through a government dividend program.
The plan I propose works like this, instead of writing a check for $350 billion to the banks to buy up mortgage debt and hope that they begin to lend again, divide the $350 Billion up between the taxpayers in the United States. To make the math simple, let's assume there are 200,000,000 U.S. Taxpayers. Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man, woman and child. So 200 million might be a fair stab at the number of working age Americans there are. So divide 200 million taxpayers into $350 billon that equals $1,750,000.00 per taxpayer.

My plan is to give $1,750,000.00 to every taxpayer as an economic stimulus Dividend. Keeping in mind Of course, it would NOT be tax free. Let us assume that tax rates of 30% were imposed. This means every individual taxpayer would pay $525,000.00 in taxes on their dividend. That sends $105,000,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam, but it also means that every taxpayer has $1,225,000.00 in their pocket. Money they desperately need right now to stave off slowing job markets and ballooning energy prices.

This would mean a husband and wife team would have $2,450,000.00. I ask what you would do with $1,225,000.00 to $2,450,000.00 for your family. Pay off your mortgage - housing crisis solved.
Repay college loans - what a great boost to new grads. Put away money for college - it'll be there.
Save in a bank - create money to loan to entrepreneurs. Buy a new car - create jobs for factory workers. Invest in the market - capital drives economic growth. Pay for your family’s medical insurance - health care quality and availability improves. Enable Deadbeat Dads to come pay up - or else. Remember this is for every U. S. taxpayer including the folks who lost their jobs at Lehman Brothers and every other company that is cutting back. Of course last but not least, all of those sacrificing so much in our Armed Forces.
If we're going to re-distribute wealth let's really do it...instead of trickling out a puny $1000.00 ("vote buy") economic incentive that is being proposed. If we're going to do a $350 billion bailout, let's bail out every U. S. taxpayer. As for failed financial institutions - liquidate them and Sell off their parts. Sell off the real estate. Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean it up. Here's my rationale. We deserve it and the banks do not. Sure it sounds like a crazy idea that can "never work," but can you imagine the Coast-To-Coast Block Party! How do you spell Economic Boom? I trust my fellow adult Americans to know how to use the $350 Billion. We Deserve It Divided more than do the geniuses at the banks or in Washington DC. And remember, this plan would only really costs $245 Billion because $105 Billion is returned instantly in taxes to Uncle Sam.

    Just something to think about,
    sincerely,
    Charles D. Hardy
