There are a lot of people on Sodahead who claim to speak English but whose actual command of the language is shoddy to say the least. And what type of English do you plan upon enforcing? It would be hypocritical to use American 'English' as an enforced language seeing as it differs so vastly from the language created in England. Maybe you should use the actual language like people in the UK do. So say goodbye to fries, moms, and football and hello to chips, mums, and rugby. (more)

    1. Bacteria mutates and can become resistant to penicillin, eg. MRSA. The strains that survive are the resistant ones. A mutation that causes an advantage becomes dominant.
    2. Sickle cell anaemia is a genetic condition which causes red blood cells to become sickle shaped. This can cause irritation to blood capillaries and lack of oxygen to cells so is clearly a disadvantage. In most places this condition is rare and usually caused by a mutation, not inherited, because it is a disadvantage. But it can be an advantage. There is a much higher occurrence of sickle cell anaemia in malaria zones as malaria cannot be carried in sickle cells and therefore sufferers are more likely to survive and reproduce.
    3. Our DNA is known to mutate (Down's Syndrome, ginger hair, etc.) and is very similar to that of primates.
    4. As we get further back through history fossils become simpler as shown by this nifty picture:

    5. Living things are all very similar in their chemical makeup and basic anatomical structures - like cells.
    6. Selective breeding of dogs. Shows us artificial selection can produce very different types of animals in just a thousand years or so. This means that natural selection can clearly do even more if it has a few billion years.

    +3 raves I don't remember where I got the form to fill in choosing to be straight. Many gay people nev... I don't remember where I got the form to fill in choosing to be straight. Many gay people never accept their sexuality and end up going off the rails. It isn't fair to judge people and say god hates them. For one thing, not everybody makes decisions on fact by looking at an ancient book, even fewer choose the bible. You can't rely on the bible to tell you what to do or you become open to manipulation. If you do insist on following the bible did you ever read about Jesus saying "Let he who is sinless cast the first stone" you should leave the judging to your god. (more)

    +2 raves I loved it too! There were hundreds of people there, playing music, selling stuff, doing magic ac... I loved it too! There were hundreds of people there, playing music, selling stuff, doing magic acts and wearing costumes. It was like a festival, I loved it so much! My friend and I qued from 9p.m. and when we got inside we waited for a couple of minutes until midnight because nobody would let anyone else open their book until then. It was a such great community spirit! When we got our books and had to walk past people in the line we thought we were going to be mugged - there were so many people staring longingly at our books - luckily all we got was a few high-fives, waves and a comedic conversation with a guy dressed as Hedwig. I doubt any other book will ever have that big an effect on so many people. (more)
