Born Cherokee in Oklahoma, raised in what was then West Germany. Served as a Marine Corps infantry machine gunner in India Co. 3rd BN 3rd MarDiv in Hawaii and Japan from '94 to '98.     +5 raves I sometimes wonder how my perception would be different had i grown up on a reservation. European... I sometimes wonder how my perception would be different had i grown up on a reservation. Europeans came to these shores to escape persecution and economic despair, but in doing so imposed these same injustices on the native peoples of the Americas. Then, there was no legal framework to work with and the best option for Europeans to take what they wanted was genocide. Today, the tribes are working within the law to achieve thier goals. Tax codes should possibly be amended, but they cannot be prevented from expanding thier holdings.

    Today, the only 'orderly development' i see is more gas stations, strip malls and manicured lawns. In my view, this should be prevented and if the tribes have found a way to preserve at least a percentage of this land this nation will be better for it.     (more)

    +7 raves I can't say enough for how i feel about this man becoming president. All politicians have sha... I can't say enough for how i feel about this man becoming president. All politicians have shady ties and say regretful things on occasion, but this guys got true character.

    I've compared his policies to those of other candidates, especially Clinton and Joe Biden, and there's usually not much difference when it comes down to the basic democratic stance. But . . . you know, i'm having a hard time putting this into words without sounding like i gotta man-crush or something.

    Basically, i trust this man's integrity. I do not trust politicians, as a rule, and sometimes i wonder if i may just be getting caught up in it all, but when i read this mans books and i hear him speak his heart i find myself uplifted. For the first time in the last decade i've been paying attention to politics i find myself hopeful that we can finally break the mindless cycle of partisan politics 'Planeteater' posted a poll on earlier. I find myself believing that for once we can do right, not only by our own people, ALL of our people, but the world as well.

    It's like this: if Bush asked me to do something i'd tell him to get screwed. If Obama asked me, i'd ask him what more i could do.     (more)
