It must have been terribly difficult, but he certainly did the right thing as far as the rest of his life is concerned. Can you imagine what the media would be saying today if he had taken the release deal? His fellow captives would be lined up today to tell their story regarding John McCain's lack of resolve in what was admittedly a very trying situation, one that few of us could endure. (more) -

Barack is no more than a media sensation since his avowed programs are definitely less than sensible. Al Gore has nothing to recommend him with regard to climate change or any other scientific matter. Oh, I'm forgetting about him inventing the internet (of course). Newspapers are by and large liberal in their views, so they are not going to say or do anything to hurt their favorite son. Most newspapers are not interested in anything that disagrees with their long-held beliefs, so don't expect to see anything that approaches balance on this issue. (more) -

The fact is that everyone involved is usually so interested in defending their position and actions (or lack thereof) that the truth is often hard to come by. It seems that a school official has no problem running a five year old kid in for drug running (giving a classmate an aspirin), but they cannot bring themselves to take action when an older student threatens classmates with murder (regardless of the history on this subject). I guess I think school administrators are so busy showing others how unbiased, understanding and open they are that they have a problem recognizing a real threat when it occurs... even when the downside can be horrific as it was in this case.
