People with stories. That, of course, would be anyone. As Amiri Bakara once said, "You can learn God knows what from God knows who."
Martial arts (I'm ranked in four), fitness, reading, movies, dinner, music (listening), whatever else.
Politics, literature, film, music, food and wine, fitness, community issues, free form conversation.

If there's a lesson in the health care fight it's that the real enemy is the American corporate structure. They exist only to maximize shareholder return and any attempt to limit that return is met with all kinds of resistance. The use the wackos among the GOP, the "moderate" Democrats, supposedly "centrist" citizens' groups and their own well funded think tanks. What we need to do is to push for public financing of elections, the enforcement of the Sherman Act and some serious reregulation of most industries. If we can find a way to eliminate corporate personhood we should. (more)

A priest named Father Balinger would show up with this amazingly crappy dog and pony show (sans dogs or ponies) and do this How To Get To Heaven bit, with little skits about various sins and graces. His stuff would occasionally fall apart or wouldn't work. In between all the piety he'd separate the girls from the boys and lecture us on the sinfulness of masturbation and the appropriateness of sex in marriage. Yes, this would take a week. No mention of how sex worked or how to do it. For that we had the gutter. (more)

Despite the pronouncements of economists there's an enormous psychological component to the economy that they can never actually get a handle on. The less stable the economy the the more unpredictable this psychological factor. Right now we're in a situation in which people with secure, well paying jobs are afraid to borrow or spend and this feeds recessionary tendencies in the economy. That could change as the situation changes but we don't know when or how. He might actually be right. (more) -

W betrayed me by using American sentiment to invade a country that had nothing to do with 9/11. Thanx for joining... you have the job as moderator: you can make questions, guide discussions and promote a healthy confluence of ideas instead of repressive doctrine from the few (neocons, and other such groups). Thanx again... I don't care where you take the group do try to end up somewhere in the area of civility in expression! Thanx again Rondolce.
