About Me
One of the interests that I've had all my life has been being a "political junkie". Being the daughter of a newspaperman, I cut my teeth on current events and news of the day, and I am not "torn" as to where my political leanings are, and that being a card carrying Liberal Democrat and a Wellstone one at that, a label I never dissed when dissing democrats and liberals was the thing to do!

I created and have been director of our Area Food Pantry for 25 years, have been serving on our city council for 10 years, biking, hiking, traveling, skiing, EMT.
They are many and varied. I enjoy all of our grandchildren's activities, good friends, new adventures, local, state and federal politics and their issues, an occasional movie, sewing, decorating, gardening.

Varied. I love the Classics, read a lot of political offerings from both sides, mysteries, biogropies. I usually have about 3-4 books going at one time.
The kids who have been sent into the conflicts we have today, with special emphasis on my son who is an officer and has been called up more than once since the Occupation and Afghanistan.

For myself, I don't get flowers every week (you better hang onto that guy, LOL), but I've had a wonderful man who was an extraordinary dad and a much beloved grandfather. (How many grandpa's do you know that go hunting for elephants in the cornfield behind your house?)
There is no doubt that the years are going quickly and while we are still doing all the things we've done for our entire married life, hiking, biking, golfing, I know the time is moving on. He had a heart attack 10 years ago and I count every year a blessing.
Thank you gentle friend for sharing and making us pause and consider what we hold the dearest to our heart but don't always appreciate it as we should. (more) -

I wrote a letter to the coalition that makes up "The Blue Dog Democrats" and told them that with a democratic majority, if they fail to take into account the millions of people who are part of their constituencies that do not have health care, and opt instead to harken to the insurance lobby, I said that there are those of us who will take great pleasure even if we aren't in their states, to contribute to their rivals come Spring. I reminded them that it is to their peril if they refuse to see how vastly important health care is and they can perhaps plan on going the route of Tom DeLay should they fail the people yet once again.....getting themselves on "Dancing with the Stars" as their own public option LOL (more)

Thanks Sissy, actually the chaos will be at my sister-in-laws home this year...we take turns having it each year...so all I have to do is take a couple of side dishes...but again, a lot of food, a lot of family, gosh I hope they don't start talking politics...lol

You and those pies. If I made pies the way you did I'd weigh over 400 pounds. While I realize you make most of yours for charity events-I'd probably be way too tempted. Have a wonderful time with your grandchildren. As I've said before someday I'll have one or two of those. (fingers crossed) We just watched The Mentalist (DVR'd it from last night) and I was so disappointed in the fact that it was rather gorey. I've always loved the show due to the fact that there wasn't much blood and gore. I'm going to e-mail CBS and ask them ..why the change. I just can't tolerate that stuff and until this episode it wasn't an issue with me. Oh well. I'm on yet another mission. lol Again, love those grandchildren. They help keep you young!

My husband and I have a six year old grandson, he can be quite challenging at times. We love him dearly but we're always glad when mom and dad come to get him. When I was thirty eight my husband and I adopted our daughter at two days old. Our oldest son is twenty nine and our middle son is twenty seven he has Autism. He is a wonderful blessing as are all children. So at fifty one I am purchasing pimple cream and the latest CD for our thirteen old. lol

I hope this Thursday morning finds you fit as a fiddle. We have our grandson's staying with us for a few days whilst their parents are on a trip and I have to tell you, its now a challenge. I love our grandchildren to pieces but after being with the little darlings, they do go home! NOW, we have homework to get done, waking up in the morning, fighting bedtimes, and getting to school on time. YIKES. Now I know why God made mother's young.....or He was supposed to!!

Hi Sissy! I pray your Mother-in-law feels better! I need to get some more of that energy I had! It seems to have left for awhile!
I need to paint the living-room next. The reason I'm waiting is because I can't decide on a color! I need to get my butt to Lowes and at least look! I have a big cathedral ceiling and I will need my husbands help, he's not going to like that!!!! lol
He hates to paint! I don't mind at all. It's almost like therapy for me! Like ironing, I like that too! Wouldn't want to do it everyday but once in awhile. The painting in the kitchen came out nice....it really needed it!
I hope you get the wallpaper finished, you'll feel great after it's done!
