  • +2 raves This reeks of urban legend.
  • +2 raves I'm not a guy, but it effects women too.
  • +2 raves I believe that many people should be taking some responsibility for what happened. The parents... I believe that many people should be taking some responsibility for what happened.

The parents should not have allowed Nick access to cars unless he proved to be responsible enough to use them wisely. He's been cited and warned for speeding numerous times before- I believe 115 in a 70 zone, 57 in a 30, and a 106 in a 70. What parent could possibly go, "Oh, giving him a car is definitely a good idea" after that?? The fact that he's a celebrity is no excuse, and neither is the fact that he's a racer. Just because he races does not mean it's acceptable to go way over the speed limit- KEEP THE SPEED ON THE TRACKS, not on a public road. Not only that, but look at this:
"... the beer Terry Bollea, also known as pro wrestler Hulk Hogan, bought for his son's friends, all older than 21, the day of the accident."

What the hell was he thinking? I contend that if it's true that he bought beer for Nick's friends, then he also intended it for Nick. What parent in their right minds would go, "Oh yeah, all of my son's friends are drinking, but my son won't"? I would never buy my alcohol for my son's friends if my son is underage, regardless of the age of his friends. That's just BEGGING for trouble.

Next, John has to take some responsibility in that he got in the car with a(n underage) drunk person without a seatbelt. I shouldn't have to say much here, since it's fairly obvious what responsibilities he had.

Ultimately, though, most of the responsibility lies with Nick himself. He made most of the choices, and showed extreme lack of responsibility and poor judgment. He shouldn't have drank, but he did. He shouldn't have gotten in the car, but he did. He shouldn't have even driven without John buckled in, let alone drive at all, but he did. He shouldn't have sped, but he did. Now it's time for him to face the consequences of his actions.
