+5 raves I agree that the procedure is very risky as you put a needle right inside the amniotic sac right ... I agree that the procedure is very risky as you put a needle right inside the amniotic sac right next to the baby. My wife underwent the procedure twice without success and i finally told the doctor forget it. I'll deal with it and would raise the child regardless of the test resuts in any case on religious, moral and ethical grounds.

As to retirement; my plans changed drastically 8 yrs ago when i married my second wife after ditching the first one 14 yrs before. All the carefully laid plans i had to semiretire at age 50 went out the window. I sold the house after a few yrs that i had just paid off and then started a new life with my wife. I now have a six yr old son that is hating 1st grade with a passion. I am more happy now than ever, even though i am unemployed at present. I plan to retire in another 20 yrs. Thinking seriously of going back to school to become a science teacher. Well, that is my new "retirement" plan. Hehe.

Reminded me of the Red Sea receeding and allowing the Israelites to escape Egypt and then coming back to destroy the entirety of Pharoah's army. When we are talking of just a few individuals dying; we say they just had an accident. When we see several hundred die we say how awful; but still only say it was an accident or God's will. Then when we have several thousand die we look for answers to why so many died; but still say it was just a horrible accident or man made disaster or God's will. When you have a biblical proportion number of people die; it is harder to say it was just an "accident" or a horrible disaster. No one said God's will as that would lead to the inescapable conclusion that God's wrath was executed on the densest populaion of Muslims on Earth. Also the epicenter was near the known terrorists network in that region. God could have prevented another 9/11 from occurring on a much larger scale. Muslim Terrorists killed near 3,000 in the twin trade towers and God then killed close to 300,000 people in the Tsunami. Coincidence? Circumstances beyond our control? How about God's wrath being visited on the enemies of God's people in the USA.

The ancient greeks and other cultures believed that there were underground realms of the dead beneath their feet and also believed there to be giants underneath mountains that created earthquakes and eruptions. Superstitions that persisted to Jules Verne's day and he wrote about these superstitious suppositions in his Journey to the Center of the Earth novel.

I'm blocked from that poll, so I can't respond. I appreciate your tone and I am familiar with Josephus. I'm not saying that the man never lived or was not executed. I'm not suggesting that some of the history in the Bible isn't accurate. But I do believe that you can easily trace much of the mysticism directly back to many pagan traditions and I believe that a great deal of those were affixed to Jesus after the fact.
