For example Thomas jefferson was pro-secularism.
This country is filled with religious fanatics. In order to become a president YOU NEED TO IMPLY THAT YOU DEEPLY believe in christianity. Where as in europe when you mention you religion while campaigning you are looked upon as a fanatic and someone who is trying to defeat the purpose of secularism.
and i assume you don't believe in global warming? -

posted 17 hours ago (edited)You are wrong on the forefathers. All were theists and most were very religious.
I didn't say they were not religious. hell they used "One nation under god"...But they built this nation based on secularism
>>No, the Euros just changed their religion. They are religious zealots.<<
Changed their religion? i don't know what you mean by that but in modern west religion has been out of politics for quite sometimes. And there are only a handful of religious groups.
>>Well having had the chance to live in Sweden, I assure you they are not better off. Need proof? Where are the tens of millions of illegal immigrants streaming into Sweden?<<
I don't know where you lived in sweden but my visit their showed me nothing but modern great society. The immigration problem is due to their laxed policies in the dept.
>>Actually w. Europe is highly intolerant of people that disagree with the state religion of environmentalism.<<
where the hell do you pull this crap from? After 4 years of living in western europe it's amazing to see how people love to make stuff about it.
>>Strange that you would focus on the Scandinavian countries of Iceland, Sweden and Denmark.
Do you have to be nordic to do socialism 'properly'?
I also find it amusing that you pick countries who total population combined does not equal the population of California. I wonder why you don't compare a similar sized country like Brazil. Would you consider the secular socialists of Brazil more civilized than the USA? If not, why not?<<
Ok here is more: france, Germany, Austria...It's not fault that Scandinavians have managed to better and evolve their socities for sake of their people's welfare.
And Brazil is considered a developing 3rd world country. So, no. I don't see the need to involve them.
>And by the way i think liberals have handed the right's ass to it so... prevail. ^_^
We shall see...right loons will probably elect another freak in 8 years and not only stop the development but make us backpedal as well. -

posted 2 days agoI name you 3 civilized countries that are modern and have passed us in many aspects:
First of all most of western EU have perfected secularism, which was the forefather's main intent. They have stepped away from letting religion interfere with their governmental structure.
Now onto the countries:
Sweden: Highest standards of living, highest standard of social welfare, Higher age expectancy, individual freedom at it's best ( you won't religious freaks protest/vote against other people's right or attack abortion and etc.) The same can apply to Netherlands, Denmark, Iceland you name it.
And by the way i think liberals have handed the right's ass to it so... prevail. ^_^ -
