+2 raves My wife and I are in our mid 40's and have never owned a home. We have long wanted to own one... My wife and I are in our mid 40's and have never owned a home. We have long wanted to own one, but due to reasons beyond our control and some within our control, that we didn't, we have not had that opportunity. In the late 90's we got our heads above water enough to actually begin to dream of owning our own home. We looked and looked, but our credit was not quite up to snuff and all we could qualify for were ARMs. They tried some pretty tough sales tactics, but I asked lots of simple questions and was able to discern that this was not the way to go. We waited. We paid down our debts and saved money for a rainy day. Now I am finally in a position to start shopping and purchase a home on my terms and I resent the idea of having to pay for everyone else's greed. Most of these people knew they couldn't afford a home, but they chose to take the plunge. When you take a plunge, you should have a life preserver. I've got mine now. I may decide to share or give mine to someone, but Barry has no right to take it from me. (more)
