NOOOOOOOOO, if you had you would realize that this bill is about preventing people from getting sick from food being imported and being able to educate the farming industry and being able to find out where food has come from if it is found to be contaminated. Please, Please, Please before you get your guns out and put barbed wire around your garden, go read this legislation!!! Here is just a little part of the bill and by the way, this is not for the home gardener, it is for slaughter houses, big farms, and import foods coming into the US.

    1) GOALS- The Administrator shall leverage and enhance the food safety capacity and roles of State and local agencies and integrate State and local agencies as fully as possible into national food safety efforts, in order to achieve the following goals:

    (A) Improve food-borne illness outbreak response and containment.

    (B) Improve the contribution of food-borne illness surveillance and investigation to the prevention of food-borne illness.

    (C) Strengthen oversight of food safety at the retail level.

    (D) Strengthen the capacity of State and local agencies to carry out inspections and enforce safety standards in food processing establishments, as part of a national strategy and plan to provide an adequate level of inspection and achieve compliance with safety standards in such establishments.

    (E) Make more effective use of the Nation’s combined food safety resources to reduce the burden of food-borne illness.     (more)

    +3 raves I do all of this everyday. I work in a correctional facility trying to help people see that the ... I do all of this everyday. I work in a correctional facility trying to help people see that the world is not all about them. They are just a part of a bigger world and need to start to recognize that they are needed. Many people would lock these people away and throw away the key but where would that leave our country when they are eventually released from prison with no sense of the world. (more)

I was sooooo caught up in wanting to be a wife and a mother at such a young age and I thought that was all I was supposed to be. Now I know that there is more to life. Don't get me wrong I love being a wife and a mother, but I also love my career and the person who I have become. I wonder if things would have been different, if I would have done things in a different order.........but then again I would not have all the life lessons that I have gained doing it the hard way.     +5 raves They finally got my son!!! He will be shipping off for basic training in March!! They promised ... They finally got my son!!! He will be shipping off for basic training in March!! They promised him a bunch of money to pay off his student loans and to pay for grad school. I just pray that he is able to go to grad school. They come to the High Schools too. When he was a junior in HS he came home wanting me to sign papers to allow him to do basic over his summer between his junior and senior year!!! I became unglued. At the time I was pregnant and very emotional anyway and when he asked me to do this I went nuts. I told him that there was no way in hell I would sign him over to GWB to be killed before he ever started his life. I called the school and went nuts to the Superintendent. They stalked him for years after that and now they got him. If the right wingers think Cindy Shehan was a pain in the ass...........let something happen to my son, I will be out for blood!!! (more)
