I think the parallels drawn between oppression of people of color (who can't help being black/brown/red/mocha) and oppression of gays (who can't help being gay) is more of an aid to understanding than it is disrespect to the cause of the African-American oppressed.

Opponents of interracial marriage used scripture to justify antimiscegenation laws, among other injustices. Likewise, opponents of gay marriage use that "old time religion" to justify this set of prejudices. Plus la change, plus la meme chose.

I think African-American cultural indispositions toward homosexuals are informing this insistence that gays not "piggyback" on advances made by the black community toward parity. This despite the fact that homosexuality occurs in the black community at the same rate as any other.

The author is telling gays to, basically, "go get your own justice". Right. I would advise anyone making a distinction such as this to remember the words of Dr. King:

Justice denied anywhere diminishes justice everywhere.

My brother is my brother, be he black, white, brown, yellow or purple. And he's my brother even if he's checking out the ass of my OTHER brother... or even mine.

    Peace.

Those kids - the drunken privileged offspring of Westchester doctors and lawyers, by and large, reflect their parents' views as the richest 1% of Americans more than they do the views of Jews, here or abroad.

That President Obama has not taken steps to distance the US from Israel tells anyone paying attention that shouts of "secret Muslim!" were off base.

That he mentions the nakba I find encouraging, but now that the US has recognized such an injustice, can we go on supporting it? Telling Israel we don't like settlements in disputed territory is one thing. Cutting the millions of American taxpayer dollars flowing to Israel is quite another.

i like Jews. I despise Zionists. I like Muslims. I despise Islamists. And their admitted "religious battle" is yet more proof that religion is bad for humans. Rational thought and discourse are impossible under the sway of the supernatural.

“With or without religion, good people can behave well and bad people can do evil — but for good people to do evil — that takes religion.”

IF YOU ARE NOT A MARINE AND WISH TO INSIST THAT PRESIDENT OBAMA WOULD NOT MAKE A GOOD MARINE, PLEASE TELL US WHY YOU WOULD BEFORE TELLING US WHY HE WOULDN'T.

He's driven, motivated, committed, detail-oriented and fit.

These are all qualities that make a fine Marine. That he is able to inspire people to follow him is an additional quality that would probably take him to positions of leadership in the senior NCO or commissioned officer ranks.

Maybe if Iraq hadn't been destabilized by an illegal and ill-advised war of vanity and profit, they wouldn't be killing each other wholesale. In Iraq, anyway.

Besides, Americans on the street are the LAST TO KNOW that our forces have been torturing captives.

Interesting that the WSJ article doesn't even mention the torture memos, yet the poster thought that to be an acceptable bit of conjecture to include in the title of the posting.

    Stirring the pot much?

    "I THINK"

And that's why I have no problem with Wiccans. They don't try to force others to their belief system or look down on those who believe differently or justify all manner of inhumanities in the name of their faith.

As superstitions go, it's probably one of the most positive and least offensive.

We'll be kicking off our Elite Latte Party with a count of all the money we've received from President Hussein so far. We'll put the regular money in one stack and the money we've taken directly from hard-working Americans just trying to get by in another.

Then it's Pin The Tail On The Fetus! One lucky mother-to-be in attendance will receive a FREE ABORTION! And then, of course, random gender reassignment and recruiting of neighborhood children to the Homosexual Agenda™.

After that, the festivities include feeding Christians to lions, a flag-burning and, of course, prayers to Allah for the destruction of America.

Then we'll be all fired up in a frenzy of Muslim America-hate. We'll construct pipebombs to be placed in recruiting offices and churches, then make prank calls to military dependents telling them their deployed loved ones have been killed in Iraq.

The party concludes with a blood sacrifice to Obama and Soros. Then we all sneak out into the community to plot the establishment of a Muslim caliphate and plan the dressing of conservative women in burqas.

Allahu akbar! Allahu akbar! Allahu akbar!

Guess what? You can't stop it. And criminally charging a girl who sends a topless shot to her bf isn't going to be a deterrent. It's just going to complicate lives already far more complex than the human organism is prepared for.

All a parent - and I am one - can hope to do is impress upon their children that sending inappropriate images buy them nothing but a bad reputation.

When you made this mysterious query
A portion, a fraction, some "ninety percent"
But of what? Implications are scary.

Of plain folk, of workers, or illegal people
Who sneak in without proper papers?
Of felons, of sports fans, of boy-screwing clergy
Who sodomize young 'uns with tapers?

Or maybe your question is oh-so-damn-Zen-like
With wisdom found not in solutions
But found in the asking (now this is quite taxing)
By those who dwell in institutions

But I think the answer's not Florida nor Cali
And that's what has come in my finish:
I'm cryptic as you are and so for my answer
I choose "Velcro, Pressed Ham, Baby Spinach"
