  • I do not favor radical "warnings" so just stop your unwarranted rant now. Your rhetoric is foolish and your ability to spell is atrocious. And what on earth is a "particle birth"? I do not usually make assumptions but surmise you may have meant "partial birth". Anyway, I have already submitted my vote for Sen. Obama and I feel damn good about MY CHOICE!

  • Hi, I have to say I agree with you about Morgan. I caught your comments on her profile while trying to get some answers myself in why she is like she is. NO answers were found. I read what she put here and sorry I just don't buy it. Just wanted you to know there is another who questions as you do.

  • pj, I am answering your question. This is not an invitation to argue about what you think I should believe, but you asked, and I am happy to answer your question. One of the many wonderful things about living in a diverse and free society is that people are free to consider issues through the lens of their own value systems and reach their own conclusions.

I am frankly appalled at Senator Obama's position on abortion (which is virtually identical to the position of most Democrats, including Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, Ted Kennedy, Al Gore, John Kerry, etc.). Somehow this anti-life posture was misplaced on the "liberal" agenda, and the Democratic party has foolishly clung to the odious Roe v. Wade decision as racists clung to the similarly indefensible Dred Scott decision.

This issue is deeply troubling to me. I wish fervently that they would analyze the question more deeply. I make peace with my decision to support Senator Obama despite his "pro-choice" (a euphemism if I ever heard one!) stance because: (a) the president has little power to impact the law on domestic issues, including abortion; and (b) I subscribe to a consistent life ethic, i.e. I take into consideration all areas of public policy that impact life. You can find out more about this undersanding of life issues here:
    http://www.consistent-life.org/

Unfortunately, neither of the political parties has adopted a consistent life ethic. If I were to vote for Senator McCain, who opposes abortion, I would be voting for a man who is wrong on many other life issue--war, universal healthcare, social security, capital punishment, etc. On balance, Senator Obama is more life friendly. I have worked and will continue to work to raise the consciousness of my fellow Democrats on this issue.

I would be delirious at discovering a viable candidate who reflects my pro-life perspective! If the Democratic party had the courage to reconsider its bizarre framing of abortion as a civil right, it would regain the respect of many who have deserted the party.
