Hello! Gina here. Throughout my school years I was mostly called Kes or Kessa at school and by friends, my middle name; because there was almost always another Gina or two in my classes. The name still sticks among my friends. Either is fine with me. I like Kes but in the work world the cutsie Kessa won't fly.

I've been active on SH since Feb/Mar, '09. I have plenty to learn on SH so if I mess up feel free to clue me in. I won't be insulted.

I love God. I love my family. I love my friends. I love my country. I'm loyal and trustworthy; but if you don't give me the same in return, you're dead to me.



I'm of Norwegian and Danish descent, but born and grown in beautiful America. My close knit family has very old fashioned ideals and values. Music and Art go back through the generations that I've heard about.




I have older brothers and sisters. I was, until recently, the baby of the family and I loved it. I loved school from day one. I loved being a child. When I hit the double digits, age 10, I was inconsolable. So my dad called me up from his work and asked for a date. My first! Mom took me shopping for my first beautiful evening dress.

I can be wordy. I can be shy. I can be playful. I can be a bit of a brat/smart aleck. That's one of my ways of learning about others and getting to know them and one way of warming up to them. I don't mean it to be rude. I honestly think that I'm just being cute. I can kick butt if pushed and I have fun doing it. You don't want to cross me. Do we know how to say tiger. Not a threat. Being cute again.


I'm awed by the wonders of nature, from the mountains to the oceans, to the rivers and streams, the animals in their natural habitats, large sea creatures, gemstones, lightening, much more.



I'm awed at the thought of the Alpha and the Omega, by the vastness of the universe, the galaxies, the planets and the stars, black holes, and everything concerning time and space; and so much more.



I'm not a blocker. Block me but I won't block you. You win some. You lose some. Life goes on. I'm a toughie and I can take what you dish out. A little disagreement now and then is the salt on the pretzel. There are 64 colors in a box of Crayola crayons. Controversy is cool with me and I'm not easily offended.



Drama stay away from my door. Please! I honestly don't have the time for that. But that doesn't mean that if my SH friends get fired upon that I won't grab up my arsenal and go to their defense if you attack them.

I abhor brutality, cruelty, evil, and injustice. I can't say this strongly enough.

Pet Peeves: Busy-bodies, trouble-makers, and gang style behaviors. Drama and drama queens.

I like furry animals, not the slimmies or the slitherers or rats, or people who behave like animals.

Ballet, biking, jogging, hiking, exploring, roller blading, swimming, water skiing, skiing, ice skating, volleyball, and dancing.

I play/love piano, violin, and cello. I'm learning guitar.
I love/enjoy people, theater, operas, ballet, classical concerts, art museums. I love parties, and cooking for family get togethers and holidays.

Classical and Romantic Violin, Cello, Piano, Guitar; individual instrumentals. Also, Show Tunes on these instruments. Romantic Horn. State Symphonic Orchestrations. Classic Williams Romance of the Guitar.

Re current music favorites, my playlist is filled with favorites but there is a lot more that I will be adding. I love most music. I don't like the screechy 'stuff' and not the screaming/gravely throat sounds. I like clear beautiful tones. And when the instrument(s) drown out the vocal I lose interest.

The Celebrity Apprentice/The Apprentice, The Amazing Race, House, Big Brother, old classic movies, home improvement/design, and cooking shows. Also, the ice skating Nationals and the World Olympics. Since I've come on SH the TV rarely gets turned on.

I loved The Shawshank Redemption. How beautifully poignant. How horribly sad. Most of those gestapo movies I can't watch. I can't watch cruelty being inflicted upon another.

Absolutely no horror or scary movies, unless there's a big, strong, protective, reassuring arm around me. Nothing gory, gross, bloody, or evil; the stuff of nightmares.

I enjoyed Gregory Bateson's 'Mind And Nature' A Necessary Unity and Silvano Arieti's 'Creativity' The Magic Synthesis.
I like to read Science books, ex. 'Beyond The Quantum' and 'Science and Human Behavior'. A lot of them are over my head, but interesting reads.
'The Devil Wears Prada' was a fun, quick read.
'Dibs' was a moving, quick read.

Also, Survival at Sea stories.
'Survive the Savage Sea' by Dougal Robertson
'In the Heart of the Sea', The Tragedy of the Whaleship by Nathaniel Philbrick
'Lost at Sea' by Bryan Lee O'Malley
'Adrift' by Steven Callahan
I love survival stories. They're all nighters for me, so no sleep that night, but well worth it. Most adventure stories are.
Love those about mountain climbing. Two that come to mind are:
'The Climb' Tragic Ambitions on Everest, and
'Into Thin Air' A Personal Account of the Mt. Everest Disaster.
