About Me
I am a UCLA graduate with a Bachelor's degree in English and a minor in Chicana/o studies. I am a school teacher who enjoys inspiring our youth to realize their full potential.
I was born and raised in Hollywood (Echo Park) CA, lived in Ocala (Florida) for a year, and just recently relocated to New York City! I am married to a wonderful New Yorican who is from Queens (NY) and graduated from NYU (I like to say the UCLA of New York.) We enjoy bettering our community as when we lived in LA, we spent our time motivating inner city youth; I was a Dance instructor and he was a basketball coach for El Centro del Pueblo (an inner city community center.)
I love to travel as I have climbed the pyramids of Teotihuacan (Mexico), witnessed the depths of the Grand Canyon, explored the Navajo reservation, Europe, Africa, the Caribbean, and visited countless states including Hawaii...
I am a Chicana (Mexican/ Native Amer.) who associates my beliefs with the ideologies of El movimiento and challenge any who claim that I do not have the rights that I am entitled to as a U.S. citizen (not "illegal" as some ignorant idiots suspect.) Forgive me if I am not brainwashed to think that this country is open to all its citizens, as it is not and racism should be abolished.

It seems as though the illegality of the drug is what causes many problems, not the drug itself. If it was legal, it would not be as taboo and thus not be something in which young folks are so eager to try...
Anyhow, let the guy smoke the herb. Alcohol and cigarettes are much more detrimental to one's health and that is legal. Besides, Phelps's ability to swim to that degree while taking hits from the bong should be yet another testament that marijuana is not as harmful to the body as many believe. (more) -

Second of all, you obviously have no clue on what it is like for a minority in this country. I'm a Mexican/Navajo mix and I completely understand Michelle's comment. She did not say she did not love or feel lucky to be born in this country, she stated she finally felt proud... meaning INCLUDED in this country.
It amazes me just how much descendants from immigrants are willing to attack minorities.
