If you believe in non discrimination in housing for gays you have disregarded the liberty of landlords to not support what they may see as abhorrent behavior. You made a one sided diatribe against Bush but were strangely silent on OB's policies. Policies taking place here and now as opposed to those from a bygone president. Are you sure you are not a Democrat with liberal leanings? Where do you fall on the redistribution of wealth in this country? Why no attacks on OB allowing heinous policies to continue? I don't own oil stocks other than within mutual funds because I don't see them as all that good as investments. $40+ billion profits for exxon, big deal, 6 billion shares outstanding, profit per share not all that big. Now prices have tanked, will the people be sympathetic if they have miniscule profits? Of course not. (more)

    As for "nobody out there to know what the right price is." That is absurd, the market will always establish a price, then you decide if it is a price you are willing to pay. If you are not willing and no one else is willing the price will come down.     (more)

    None of it will reach here. SO WHAT? Canada sends us their natural gas NOW. Once it goes into a pipeline it does not matter where it came from.
    If it were built to the port of Valdez it would have to be sent to Asia because we do not have facilities on the west coast to handle it.     (more)

    +2 raves I know it sounds crazy but things are not as bad as they seem now and much worse than they seem d... I know it sounds crazy but things are not as bad as they seem now and much worse than they seem down the road!
    Our current debt is not at all unmangeable, we have owed much more in the past(as % of GDP) and came through fine. Interest on the debt is 2% of GDP(2006) down from 4% in the 80's and 90's. WE ARE NOT BANKRUPT NOW AS SOME ARE SAYING.
    HOWEVER
    We are set for an explosion in entitlement payments and no politician is talking about how bad it will be. THERE ARE NO TRUST FUNDS. that money has been spent and replaced with IOU's. How do we pay back the IOU's? There are only four options;
    Cut entitlements
    Raise income(taxes)
    Borrow
    Print more money(devalue currency) We could print billion dollar bills tomorrow and pay all national debt off by the end of the week. Just don't expect anyone to trust or want your money.
    Each choice comes with lots of problems, all will cause a great deal of pain.
    What do we have now, politicians proposing to raise spending!
    If you think what we have now is a good system you should use the Washington Plan to fund YOUR retirement.
    1 Spend every cent you have coming in.
    2 Borrow more
    3 Spend what you borrow
    4 Write IOU's to yourself for your retirement and debts, put them in a jar
    5 When you stop working pull your IOU's out of the jar and pay your living expenses and debts with IOU's to your self
    6 Scratch your head when your creditors want more in payment than IOU's to yourself!
    Americans are financially ignorant, trust political parties and don't want pain. Don't expect any solution soon.     (more)
