While this might be the single most detailed piece I have read on this subject, it is far from the first. And more disturbing is that all reports trace the source back to FEMA (the entity within the government that is supposed to provide "humanitarian aid" in times of crisis and catastrophes of al kinds).

    I don't want to believe it, but the handwriting is on the wall in so many other ways to (regardless of which party is in power!). It is starting to become impossible to deny OR ignore!     (more)

As an ex-chief, it was sad to see something like this happen in my department, but I was pleased to be the one to terminate, and prosecute, those who act like that. We all work too hard and put ourselves out too much to have our reputations tarnnished by common "street thugs" with a police uniform to wear along with their guns! (more)

    +11 raves I served three yeaars in Viet Nam ('67-'69), but I did so by choice. MMyself and my enti... I served three yeaars in Viet Nam ('67-'69), but I did so by choice. MMyself and my entire squad were given 2-3 weeks twicw a year on R&R; out of country just to be sure to keep "our heads straight." Even then the military psychologists and psychiatrists realized the potential for mental and emotinal trauma to long term combat stints.

    A couple years ago I joined my cousin and her husband (retired Navy) at a gathering of all her daughters and son-in-law for Thanksgiving at one daughter's house 15 miles from the Marine Corps base in 29 Palms, CA. THe day after THanksgiving we went to the Naval Exchange (like a miltary department store) at 29 Palms. I spoke to a number of Marines and fund that most had just finished tours in Afghanistan or Irag and were at 29 Palms for new training and orientation before being shipped out to combat in the "other" combat zone they had not just left. A few exressed some mild trepidation, but most were stalwart and ready (after all - they WERE Marines!).

    It is hard for me to comprehend what REALLY was in their minds. Yes, I dd three straight years, but that was by choice; I was offered other positions stateside and in Europe. To fight in one combat zone for 8 months or more, then brought back for additional training and re-orientation before shuttling off to another combat zone must play on the minds of these troops. In WWII troops fought extremely protracted periods in either Europe or the Pacific theaters, but as a rule - not both. I'd find this to be more challenging and demanding than those who fought in one theater or another in WWII or others like myself who did 2 or 3 tours by personal choice and insistence in Viet Nam.

    It's a great question to bring up. THis is probably the most trying and challenging combat drama that anyone could possibly conceive of. I worry for them in changing combat modes and environments, and for their menta health after they've serve 3, 4 or even 5 combat stints rotating between the extremely diferent combat consitions that exist between Iraq and Afghanistan. All I can say isthat they all need our support and our prayers; this situation is truly unprecedented in American miltary history.     (more)

Especially with the government (that we ALL distrust to some degree) being by far the largest client. Just think of all the conspiracy theories from BEFORE the JFK assasination through and BEYOND 9/11 and what damning and conclusive evidence that would dispell the findings of the various federal commissions (such as the Warren Commisiion, etc.) that could be concealed from the media and the public at large. I find this not to be a surprise, but still a serious matter of secrecy rather than full and open public disclosure. (more)

We played by the rules in Vietnam and even before and at all times since. It seems they threw out the rules, regulations, treaties, and codes in the Iraq War! Sorry, I have no pity for him; he dishonored our country, our flag, and all us Veterans who preceeded him by his actions! (more)
