About Me

First and foremost: "sockpuppet" does NOT mean I'm using other nyms to post. I've been "sock" (or some variation of it) on Usenet and everywhere else for almost 20 years, now.

For all practical (?) purposes, I'm a stretchy nylon tube sock with a red ball nose and eyeballs that rattle and roll disconcertingly. Think: whimsical mayhem... chaotic good. :O)

I harbor a certain amount of contempt for Liberals, and for fundamentalists who seek to control others. Even though I identify as a Fiscal Conservative, I agree with the Liberals on gay rights, separation of Church/State and capital punishment. But all of that takes a back seat to the economy, and keeping my country safe, solvent and profitable for all.

Done a lot of jobs, been to a lot of schools, lived a lot of places... but haven't married or spawned yet. Used to party a LOT, but I mellowed out about 20 years ago.

I'd like to meet

Sensible adults who aren't politically hysterical (Left or Right). And I'm not big on conspiracy kooks. I can separate the person from the ideology, so we might argue fiercely on one issue and agree wholeheartedly on the next. Most of us are probably like that, if we get a handle on our emotions.

Activities

I live on the internet... this IS my activity.

Oh... I cook. And clean. And shout out the answers to "University Challenge" when I know them.

Interests

I collect books, love to read & write, and I'm very keen on internet culture and meeting people all over the planet. :O) I like old cartoons, early 20th Century culture, good music that I haven't heard a million times on the radio... just about anything done well. Most of all, I enjoy traveling and meeting people.

We've been having the pits for weather too. I live in the southern part of Wis., and about 60 miles away, they had a foot of snow. Aaargh. This last Monday it was 90 deg., now its in the low 40's. Unbelievable. Then people try and tell us there is "no global change".......

LOL. No, I wasn't able to, but the directions for it brought up the pics of how my laptop is set up, but once I go to a certain point in the directions, one of the options that I was supposed to click on wasn't highlighted so I was unable to click on it to make it work. I'm really wracking my brain trying to figure out how in the world I managed to turn the feature off....I LOVE that feature! Again, thank you so much for assisting me. :)
