My father beat my mother all the time and she would intentionally press the buttons to make him do so. They both claimed they were staying together "for the sake of the children". I hated that because I could not see how the continous exposure to their battles contributed to my well being. After my sister and I were both grown and out of the house, guess what...... they stayed together and they kept right on fighting. So I think that when people claim to stay together for the children, it is a lame ass excuse. They stay together because they enjoy the dysfunctionality of their relationship and blame it on the children because it is such an irrational reason for staying together. One more thing, the children pack the blame well into adulthood. Trust me I know, I still feel guilty even at the age of 46. (more)

They decided to change the oil because "Mom we are men, we do not pay someone to do something for 60 bucks when we can do it ourselves." ummmhmmmm right. My driveway now looks like an oil lot because of course they didn't know the kitty litter trick. My son's friends bike is inoperable because he lost the nut that holds somethingy or other together and he broke his key off in the ignition. (more)

If you are alive today than you are a survivor either way. Sort of. Each chips away at you and leaves you full of self-loathing and condemnation. Each makes you wonder what was wrong with you and what did you do wrong. You get beat down and you stay that way for years. Then one day you wake up and you cant make your own decisions or find you way without significant help from other people. (more)

I used to be able to leave the house in the morning, take my older son to the beach and then to the pizza place. Next we would stop off at the library, get some books, go wash my car, run some errands, go home and fire up the grill for dinner. Now that list would take me about a year to complete. (more)

I dont know about a lot of people but I can tell you this. Everytime I need the cops for something, they never come. When they do, they treat me like CaCa like I am a crazy lady. My nephew was punched in the side of the head by a random thug. Called the police...two days response time. Someone was stealing the radio out of my neighbors truck. Response time next day. A lady was knocking on my door at 1Am with a crowbar, response time, never. I got stopped for speeding, I got out of my car to get my purse out of my trunk, the policeman drew his gun on me and made me lay on the ground. I got stopped on the way to a baseball game by a road block. They detained me until some kid came and said it wasnt me that did whatever. In the meantime, the police officer took the liberty of searching me for a weapon. I was wearing shorts, his hand went inside my shorts. These are my experiences with the cops. I am a white 45 year old female. I am either real unlucky or the cops are treating everyone like crap. (more)
