Thanks kindly for those links. I suppose I should have, but I hadn’t looked at the brief. Interesting reading and I’ve got to agree with the conclusion of The Week (Yahoo link): the arguments are utterly unconvincing, all of them. In fact, some of them are blatantly nonsensical.

They also seem to be written from an incredibly odd perspective: apparently we’re currently living in a state of societal perfection, never mind the fact that 35 per cent of American children live in single-parent households and many of them are babysat by televisions and computers (necessity or lack of proper priorities). A good parent is a good parent, regardless of sex ...two, even better.

Honestly, this isn’t at the top of my list of concerns. But if a government were to tell me I’m not entitled to marry because I happen to be 25 per cent Irish or my left foot is a half size larger to the right, I’d take tremendous issue with that. The only valid way of looking at this is through the eyes of those who do have reason to care. But that’s a decidedly liberal point of view; I’m not so sure people inclined towards conservative ideology have the ability to consider things from another perspective.

I did notice that my comment containing the unfortunate phrase “I love ewe” was removed. The Pebble (< code name for a larger geological object) can liken homosexuality to bestiality (which could be exceedingly offensive to somebody), but if I take the piss, I’ve broken SH rules. That’s reasonable. This place is an intellectual sewer.

Wales! Yes, I did make a comment about Welsh ‘fascination’ with sheep, didn’t I ...mind you, on very good authority:
    http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com...

Very unfortunately, I didn’t get a look at your comment. Whales? I presume the term ‘blow hole’ was employed. HAHA! You may well have been the reason for the comment plundering; mine was fairly innocuous.

Hope family health and happiness are rating highly these days. A splendid Easter to you.

    Cheers!

    Evening to you.

Finally saw Lincoln. This is how much I enjoyed it: I went as much to hear the score (John Williams) as I did to see the film, but I didn't notice there was a score. HAHA. Haven't enjoyed a film as much in a very long time.

Been quite busy and COLD in recent days. Hope all is well with you. Take good care.

by the by, I saw Lincoln, and a good film it is. What I especially enjoyed about it were the period treatments, all the characters were fleshed out well, and seemed real, but the times and the era were captured quite well I thought.

Happy Christmas to you and your family, and all the best for the coming year. May yours be filled with peace, kindness, a good amount of laughter, and the love of family and friends.

    Edit:
Sorry, left some out: good music, food, wine, books, good health, the occasional adventure in the great out-of-doors, and at least one fill-in-the-blank.

    Much cheer!

This crowd is tough; they’ve really got very little ability to think rationally. I don’t know what specific posters you’re referring to, but I know the sort (OS). I don’t think they’re having us on; I think they are tremendously frightened. The fact that their fear is of their own making is neither here nor there. They're reacting from the gut and not the head. You can’t argue logic with the gut ...doesn’t work. And when they see you’re on the other side, you’re the monster in the closet.

They start with a skewed view of the world, which is then fed by the likes of Fox News, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh (and on and on). These entities are fear merchants: they target fear and manipulate it. Despicable practice because, of course, it’s done for only one purpose, ratings. And, like the article you referenced on the Mayan calendar issue, this does have real-world consequences. They don’t care; they’re in it for the money, and it captures the audience because they’ve got to know when to start building the bunkers.

That said, maybe there are things that elude us because of our own biases (though ours is reasoned thought). I don’t fancy the idea of a one-party system. I want the other side to act reasonably and rationally as a check and balance system. Because these two s...

This crowd is tough; they’ve really got very little ability to think rationally. I don’t know what specific posters you’re referring to, but I know the sort (OS). They're reacting from the gut and not the head. You can’t argue logic with the gut ...doesn’t work. And when they see you’re on the other side, you’re the monster in the closet.

That said, maybe there are things that elude us because of our own biases (though ours is reasoned thought). I don’t fancy the idea of a one-party system. I want the other side to act reasonably and rationally as a check and balance system. Because these two sides (conservative and liberal) tend to evolve naturally, it might be very well argued that we do need each other. But not this extremism, that will never lead to productive solutions.

If I’m wrong about all that, I haven’t a clue as to what’s going on. As an experiment, I’m trying to handle the most egregious posters here with respect, but that really won’t work because my sarcasm doesn’t take direction well …I enjoy taking the piss too much. But I don’t post much now. If I were still in the fray (as you are), I think I’d do exactly what you’ve done …block the cunts. It gives them an initial thrill because they can call you a coward, but ultimately it irritates them because it stops them doing what they’ve come here for, a little game called one-upmanship. If they can’t get a dig in directly, they will go indirect ...they’ve got an axe to grind. That’s the other problem here …childish behaviour (both sides). They would never say to somebody in person what they post here. That would be considered anti-social behaviour by any reasonable standard.

If you do get booted off, I imagine you can come back on by opening another account. I did that, but there were no complaints lodged against me; I requested the accounts be closed. Still, I think you could do. Mind you, you would give up that all-important level status. I know you’d lose sleep over that.

Ah, leave this for a few days and enjoy your trip. These tossers deserve the same energy you’d give any other idiot, fuck all. Cheers!

Rushing out the door now, so I'll respond more fully later. BUT ...best wishes for an enjoyable trip if you head out before then.

    Take good care.

ps: I've always considered a sound mind a thing of beauty, but one must adjust himself to his surroundings. (When in Rome ....) HAHA

Evening, S* ...hope all is well.

My eyes see your background as medium blue. The orange in the image behind bleeds through at spots to create a shade of violet, but the overall effect is definitely blue.

And thanks for the thumbs up!

Hey, thanks for the raves again! Love your name and I really like the purple colors and the lightning on your page. Wow, I need to take some time and spiffy my page up, I'm so busy writing sometimes I forget to dress nice. LOL.

The past week being a bit out of the ordinary, haven't been round here much. Thought I'd stop by for a quick hello. Hope all is well with you.

NYT's Nate Silver has the president's odds of being re-elected at 83.7% as of this morning. I'll take all the good news I can get. We may squeeze past the fantastically absurd (obscene) alternative.

    Best regards.

    Evening, S* …trust you’re doing well.

Just stopping by to say I hope we get a good performance tonight. I’m being dragged to a debate party. It BETTER be a party! (And it was.)

    Edit:
Brilliantly done ...couldn't have hoped for better.

Welcome back then. Thought maybe you'd got tired of this like I have. I'd like to suggest they change the name to Hate Head. I think it's got a certain ring to it ...fairly accurate as well.

Hope the 'gone' was an enjoyable adventure. Happy to have you back, mate. Take care.

I don't pay attention much to Katy Perry herself, and her heavily glamorized done up self doesn't peak my interest at all, but I do seem to like a lot of her songs. So, in that sense, yes, I have to admit that I do like Katy Perry ...songs, mostly. It started when I use to hear 'Hot and Cold' on the car radio every night and couldn't help but sing along. I didn't really want to like it, but I just really did.

I suppose that's what bothers me as well ...no common decency. It really does feel like blatant hatred.

Here's one on Ryan you might find interesting. That guy's an outright fascist.
