About Me
What you see is what you get -- I'm officially old (but I don't feel it most of the time), officially chubby, retired from over 30 years with the Social Security Administration, mostly as an SSI Claims Specialist and Technical Expert. I was married for a few years a long time ago, and have a marvelous adult son .

I'm in a classical community chorus, have even been president, and just love to sing. Although classical music is my first choice, I like almost every sort of music. If you've noticed the sorts of polls I've answered, you know that I'm interested in politics. I also really like taking pictures, but mostly do so at special times.

What I think of as the 10 o'clock dramas (although some of them aren't on at 10) -- that's the L & O's, the CSI's, Criminal Minds, Numb3rs -- like that. I still stick with ER. I also like some reality -- American Idol, Dancing with the Stars and some of the similar shows where people actually have to do something real and requiring skills. I watch a lot of "documentary" TV -- things on Animal Planet, Discovery, National Geographic Channell, History Channel. I love Jeopardy and real quiz shows.
Good ones ;^)
Easier to say that I'm not fond of most romantic comedies and most silly comedies. My idea of good examples of those subgenres are Bridget Jones Diary or Airplane, Love Actually or Blazing Saddles. I like a good thriller, a real horror movie (not slasher flicks, which I think are ghastly), mysteries, cop dramas and general high-quality dramas.

Can't do favorite books, either. I like lots of them and live in a house where the books let me share some space.

You know we are almost diametrically opposed in our opinions; you know I think you go too far sometimes with yours. But neither of us has ever blocked the other -- we both like debate, I think, rather than ranting and raving with no one but "your own kind".
It will be too bad if you leave. I've not been around much myself; I hate what has happened here -- no real debate to speak of and a whole lot of hate and anger and ill-humor. But I'm trying to stay and hope you will, too (more) -

I'm really afraid this is unconstitutional -- not just a bill of attainder, but an ex post facto bill of attainder. I figure the Senate won't pass it and that will end it. About the decision to drop the A-bomb -- he did what he thought was the right and necessary thing to save American lives -- they were saying as many as 1 million might die if we had to invade Japan. Well, well, well - so, what do you think about closing 200 state parks? Argh! We are in one hell of a mess...all my friends who work in social services are tearing out their hair.
But the weather is heavenly and life is truly good. Thought I'd drop by to say hello!

I've been really busy working on becoming a Minister! Yes I said "A MINISTER!" It is not easy to do all that studying! LOL But I am getting the grade⦠and if all goes well I will be working hard at doing the Lords Work. But I will still be hanging around SodaHead and stopping in from time to time. I love you all and wishing you all blessings. I am now in the process of changing my profile to better reflect the new and improved me in the Lord.

I left home fully decided that I would vote for everything except 1B but in the booth I simply couldn't bring myself to vote on two of them. Sigh.
Yes, our system of direct voter participation has landed us in a terrible mess, starting with the two thirds to pass a budget. The entire process is held hostage by a minority. My biggest beef (among many about our system) is with paid signature gatherers. If it were to be on a strictly volunteer basis, we wouldn't have nearly as many foolish propositions.

Hey, C, I'm sitting here wondering what the heck to do with tomorrow's vote. You'd think I'd know by now but I really, really don't. I've never wanted to sit out an election as much as I'd like to sit out this one....sigh...

Hey, fellow northern Cali friend! We got over three inches of rain - my garden rejoices. How's all with you?

You're wise to give yourself a break! IF my computer wasn't so accessible, I would too. I am making plans on moving it to another room and that will no doubt shorten my time on here too. Right now, I just have to walk by it on the "main drag of my house" and I have to take a peek! lol
Have a wonderful week!

I see desperation in the Right and that is leading to all their vitrol. You know what? It bothers me not and I don't want it to bother you either. There are a lot of really fun polls/questions going up now and I'm pretty much sticking with them. Every once in awhile I jump into a nonsensical fray, but you can't leave. I won't have it!!
XENON23
Yes I can tell. Your about the only one on SH that I know I really really do not agree with on most stuff but we have learned to be nice and find the things we do agree on. That is very rare on SH.
XENON23
Thanks for being one of the few liberals/Whatever you like to call yourself that can make a point. Even if we do not always agree.
