The fact that it was done during a time when millions of families with small children would be watching makes it all that more vile. The FCC needs to investigate this and prosecute those responsible to the fullest extent of the law, including jail time. And measures need to be taken to ensure that it doesn't happen again. Geez, and I thought Janet Jackson's "Nipplegate" five years ago was bad! (more)

I'm wondering, though, if a post receives multiple down-raves, is it still arbitrarily deleted or does SH staff check first to verify that it violates the rule indicated?

I also like that SH now has a separate area for adult and mature content. That allows adults to have important conversations that may be inappropriate for younger readers.

Neither of them is going to take the country in a positive direction. While McCain, with his liberal leanings, will likely do more to harm the GOP party, Obama will do more to destroy the nation itself. President George W. Bush had a great first term in office, but lost me on his second term. He still was better than the alternative (Kerry or Gore). But McCain, in my view, is a repeat of GWB in his second term. I haven't decided for sure yet; I may vote for a third party candidate in the November elections and risk giving Obama the edge, or I may grit my teeth and vote for McCain, the lesser of two evils. Either way, I am not pleased with the direction we'll be taking for the next 4 years. (more)

God is omniscient (all-knowing) and omnipotent (all-powerful), so He knew before time began everything about me, including whether or not I would choose to follow Him. Even though He is powerful enough to force me to follow Him, He gave me the free will whether or not I would do so. I'm not vain enough to think that I am saved by my own works (my choice to follow God). I know that it was only by His grace that I was even given the option. But I'm also not going to blame God for my own choices. Yes, He is all-powerful and all-knowing, but we ultimately must make our own choices. (more)

As it says in Romans 1: 19-20, "...That which may be known of God is manifest... for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead..." I look at the world around me and the amazing complexity of it is evidence that it had to have a designer. Many religions can debate who or what that Creator was, but I don't see how this world could have possibly come into existence without having been intentionally created.

It's not really a question of WANTING there to be a God, it's a question of IS there a God. Some people are content to cease to exist when they die, but if there is a God and an afterlife as described in the Bible, then simply ceasing to exist is not an option. I believe that there is an afterlife and we get to choose our role in it. Christianity, the belief-system to which I prescribe, says that not making the choice is, in effect, choosing the less-desirable of the two options. If one chooses not to believe in the afterlife, that's their choice, but it doesn't negate the fact that it does exist. I can choose to believe that Abraham Lincoln never existed and that he is a fictional character, but my belief does not make him more or less real. I look at the existence of God the same way.
